Why does everyone hate Dalaran so much?

I adore Dalaran. It’s my favorite city hub in the entire game. Mage bias aside as my main, the music and aesthetic are majestic and unlike anything we have in the WoW universe.

Paved cobblestone roads with gorgeous violet spires ascending to the sky, a mini profession shopping district, two banks, fleshed out faction areas with cozy inns, a coffee shop cafe, an entire sewer system running under the city itself to PvP or pass time, cute park area in the center (RIP old Dalaran), not to mention it’s in the sky among the clouds, safe and secluded from harm.

I get that Dalaran is small, but that’s part of the reason I love it so much. Incredibly convenient to get to point A to B and it just feels like such a cozy place to be. But I constantly see people hating on it or declaring it as their least favorite hub.

What makes a hub “good” for you?

It could be because it takes so long to zone into Dalaran ( for me at least). I personally like (liked) it myself.

Dalaran’s my favorite city in the game. I wish I could drive it everywhere.

It was good in wrath but bad in legion because it was laggy in legion and notorious for long loading screen times.

Lag, lag, and lag. Used to be the big complaint long ago.

For some reason that place has terrible loading, my guess its because of the sewers/class halls and so forth having different layers. Even with great pcs its a pain it seems

SSD drive fixed the majority of the problems I used to have with load screens. Best upgrade to my pc I ever made:-)

I loved it as a hub in both Legion and Wrath, but when it was the main hub both those times, frame rates would drop, and the lag.

Wasn’t aware people hated Dalaran.

Btw there’s a console command to improve long load times. It WILL cause Dalaran to pop in like it was an N64 game.

Because it’s not nearly as cool as Iron Forge, and I was tired of it the second go around.

This. Want a treat? Try to log in to a toon camped in Dalaran while playing on an Imac. Go get a 6 pack and see how many you can drink before it loads completely without crashing.

I like it, never heard anyone say anything bad about it cept that it’s laggy.

Dalaran isn’t so bad a town at all. It’s easy to navigate, and everything is neatly placed in segments about the city.

The streets are such a weird shade of pink. It becomes nauseating after a while.
