I can’t even find patch notes why are addons broke again?
Because, at minimum, addons report to the API what version of WoW they’re for in the TOC file, so if that doesn’t match, WoW throws a hissy fit and warns you that the addons are out of date.
A lot of times that mismatch is the only problem but the API frequently changes with new patches so it can often be a lot more complex than that too
I hope you don’t have ambitions to become a detective.
If I did I wouldn’t do a quick google, check the website and wowhead. This didn’t pop upf or any of these.
It’s not just a version# mismatch.
IceHUD broke, target timers not working
The weakaura for Kaze MRT timers broke (good riddance tbh, hated it)
Altoholic throwing tons of errors
That’s just what I noticed in 30 seconds, undoubtedly more broken.
Add Z-perl to this list… it’s completely unusable.
what else is new
My wife is in the process of coding an addon for herself similar to WeakAuras. She mentioned something in this update was going to be effecting ui/addons, but generally every major patch requires addons to be updated.
So your wife broke our addons? That’s what I’m hearing.
Muwahahaha! Suffer!
I actually said something similar to a Sargent in local police force, about an officer who phoned it in on an local issue.
They’re changing the API every couple of weeks. It’s irritating. I’m sure they have more important things to do than restructure their UI code.
That’s great info, but I gotta ask, why separate the new implementations and removing the old functions? Wasn’t that normally done all at once in the past? Rip the bandaid off instead of breaking things twice separately.
It is the second listed article under the news section on the WoW site.
They certainly have more important things to worry about than addons they didn’t create
because addon’s are not blizzard’s problem. Deal with it.
Cool dive into this.
ThreatPlates is broken entirely, which is really sad. Many of the other plate addons I tried also didn’t work or produced severe errors and glitching.
Thankfully found the lightweight BetterBlizzPlates and could configure it as a basic substitute, but definitely hope this is fixed. Blizz’s default UI in this regard is abysmal.
This. Addons are third party, unsupported. Its the addons publisher’s responsibility to communicate degradations.
