I’ve always wondered why this relatively new 3rd spec uses Intellect. I get that Consume has a long cast time but Hunters have similar abilities and they haven’t used Intellect for a very long time.
Why force Devourer to collect 2 sets of gear to tank and DPS when Havoc can just get a 2nd set of trinkets? (Yes, they won’t be optimal since tanking specs need different secondaries but they’ll be able to tank just except high-end keys and mythic raiding.)
Any insights?
Because boomkin was the only int leather dps before this and they felt like they needed another one.
Also you don’t have to collect two sets of gear. All gear swaps primary stats, the only thing you need different are trinkets, and only sometimes because sometimes trinkets have int and agi on them. If you plan around just using warglaives the whole time you don’t need a different set of weapons either.
Right now you can gear yourself in a way where you don’t need to swap a single piece of gear. Is that optimal? Not really, but using the same gear for all 3 specs never really was for any class, even with the same primaries. Look at mage, for example. Frost wants crit/mastery. Arcane wants haste/vers. Fire wants haste/mastery. You’d need different accessories for each spec if you wanted to be optimal.
