Why does Bash and gouge get dodged or parried so often? I can land just about every other ability regularly but these two abilities seem to get “avoided” far more frequently than any other; I find it rather peculiar that the rate of avoidance on these two abilities has gotten so high in the last 3 weeks.
IF this were just RNG being RNG then other abilities would see similar levels of avoidance but they don’t.
I haven’t noticed any problems with Bash.
I do notice that Mangle gets parried pretty often, though…
You are standing in front of a mob to gouge. They have a higher chance to dodge while from the front. I believe this also applies to pvp, but if someone knows differently then feel free to share.
I thought Gouge couldn’t be used anywhere but from the front?
Errr…pretty sure I said you are using gouge from the front
Correct that its used up front, but this was not a problem in vanilla when we had far higher dodge levels, and it was not a problem in most of “This” TBC until the last 3 weeks.
Sorry, second sentence made me think you were differentiating it somehow from being used from behind.

It wouldn’t have been as apparent in Vanilla because you had much higher levels of weapon skill too. Unless you actually capped expertise at the expense of literally everything else this phase, the enemy dodge / parry chance from the front is waaaaaay higher.
Very few times did my PVP geared rogue ever get gouge avoided, and on that rogue I played Daggers and was UD and did not have CHG
I mean, fight the good fight, but can pretty much guarantee weapon skill was higher in Vanilla than your expertise is in TBCC.
Weapon skill when its at base (300 in Vanilla) is worse than even a smidge of Expertise rating in TBC.
None of the PVP items had weapon skill, and there was no weapon skill in Daggers for Undead, additionally Core Hound Gloves were not as good in PVP as T2 / PVP gloves.
Gouge was never a problem before, but suddenly is. I have the same issue with Bash on my druid and its somewhat annoying.
IIRC, weapon skill also capped at 305 in pvp in Vanilla. Not positive though.
yeah no idea about that, but I don’t think weapon skill would matter any way since Defense was often not above 300 in PVP either excluding tanks and only then would weapon skill actually do much. The amount of gains were negligible in PVP, making raw stats like Agi just better.
Yeah, it’s bugged. You should go do a ten hour test to confirm it. Please post your data with us afterwards.
It’s always been like this. Any class that can parry, will parry any ability used in front. It only gets worse in WOTLK with Dk’s and their 50% parry chance.
was not this way in Classic vanilla, and for most of TBC until the last 3 weeks.
I’ve had issues with this since I played Wow back in original TBC. I’ve played feral for 10+ years and bash has about at least a 50% chance to get dodged or parried, to the point where I won’t even bother using it anymore unless i know for a fact I’m behind the target.
Can’t count how many arena games I’ve lost because the charge was resisted and then the bash was parried.
That’s far beyond the value of avoidance of nearly any character in PVP excluding Bear Spec’d and geared druids or a rogue with Evasion up.
Still 50/50 for me and always has been.
