Why does "Andy" mean fangirl/fanboy

Does anyone have the story on this? Just one day everyone started calling fanboys/girls “Andys.” Classic Andy. Retail Andy. Alt Andy.

What did the Andys of the world do to deserve this?

Unrelated: RIP the name “Karen”

It means someone who likes classic more than retail and defends that position. At least that’s how it’s used, I don’t know how the twitch thing above turned into that.

By the look of things it’s simply one culture’s slang being brought over into another.

Why does Karen mean entitled and egotistic women (usually white and/or a boomer or gen X but not exclusively)?

Why is Chad and Stacy used for a superior male/female respectively?

It’s just slang.

The guy in the middle is literally named Andy. :dracthyr_crylaugh:

Andy, Karen and Brandon are the latest. They are people who are ultra followers of radio or internet hate groups. They generally don’t have the intelligence to actually argue issues so their hate group handlers give them these code names so they can feel “cool” insulting whom ever they hate.

what on earth

I only just realized gen z and zoomers are the same thing

I have also heard of Tyler referring to someone who wears jean shorts, a wallet chain and drinks Monsters. Fascinating. I love Monsters.

Yep, same thing with “millennial” and “stressed”. slaps knee

I gave up a long time ago on trying to follow what all the kids are saying nowadays.

I haven’t heard it outside of this.

Anytime I hear Andy these days my head goes to Bob’s Bugers with the " Back to you Ollie" and “Back to you Andy”

It’s not hard to follow but then I randomly like spending time reading up on other languages and their syntax. Just a fun little game.

I thought the Karen thing came from some old Dane Cook standup.

I’m sure I could if I wanted to. I just don’t care enough to do so. :stuck_out_tongue:
