Why does Alliance fail at pvp?

Is it just my battlegroup? Just out of curiosity. This is just a place for me to complain to be honest, and to see if anyone else has noticed. I played AB all day yesterday and won, one game. Every other game was not even close. They usually either happen one of two ways. We roll over and end up posting up at ST the entire game. OR we cap 3 and pull a lead for a couple minutes, then I think everyone AFKs and then we end up at ST again for the rest of the game.

It seems every BG the Alliance loses very often. Has anyone else experienced this? Or have I just had very bad luck? Feel free to give me any insight y’all have or to just tell me I suck and move on. Im bored at work

Horde plays the game as intended. Alliance plays Medieval Call of Duty.

Its more accurate to say that Alliance play for RP or PvE min-maxing with paladins.

A lot of alliance players really don’t care for PvP or when they do it, its in groups with incredibly good gear.

Horde tend to care more about PvP in general and therefore have a lot more practice with it, regardless if solo or state of gear.

The result is way more horde queueing for BG’s, consequently weeding those who don’t care much for PvP in bg’s out as they are not willing to wait as long to play, and a much smaller pool of alliance players who can instantly join any BG so a lot of the “dregs” join on the alliance side.

There are no “battlegroups”. You are in a pool with your entire region, all the RP, all the PVE, all the RPPVP, and all the PVP servers, are all tossed into the same region pool.

The server surveys clearly show that alliance favor PVE servers. It is not a stretch to extrapolate that to willingness to PVP in BGs.

Alliance does just fine in WSG/AB on the east coast battlegroup. AV has major map issues.

I guess it could be a west coast thing?

No, because there is no east coast/west coast battlegroups. The only servers on a different battlegroup here are the Oceanic ones.

Ah, did they merge the battle groups? I thought classic had two for america at one point.

Yeah, and people complained massively about the queue times, especially in the lower level brackets. They reversed it somewhat quickly.

My understanding is that horde/ally have similar win/loss ratio in wsg and ab with horde having a slight edge and only av is where horde wins all day everyday. Mentality wise, horde players aremore likely to try to win the game, even if it means they are “humiliated” personally. On alliance a common mentality if you are a good player who has landed in a bad team is screw these guys I’m going to look for 1v1s and kills. This difference is caused by alliance having instant qes so they can always just win the next game where they may be dealt a better hand.

From my experience every alliance pvper is either a true casual or a sweaty tryhard. Most of the sweaty tryhards are done with BGs and if they bother to pvp its usually on test realm wargames or in 5ish man premades where they stomp.

Also I will always believe that paladins are a nightmare for alliance because the prevalence of rets, especially in casual pug BGs, is a huge detriment. For every premade that wins because hpal is strong in an organized team, there are 10 pugs that struggle because rets are mostly dead weight.

On our server alliance is pretty strong.

Pugging with a small group of friends who know what they are doing will greatly increase your chances. You don’t need a full premade, even a group of 3-4 will make a world of difference in AB.

It’s a true story and I can only speculate as to why. I’ve been PvP’ing since vanilla and in every xpac and on both sides. My time was mostly spent on the Alliance fighting an uphill battle against the horde with horrific win / loss rates. But occasionally I got to be the BG hero and turn it around against the odds and that was fun.

But after many years I switched to horde just to see how the PvP was. Was it just in my imagination? Was the grass really greener on the other side? Yes! Yes 1000x times yes it is. B/c Horde have a basic competency, a sense of team work, a focus on the objective, and faction pride that simply is not there on the Alliance.

The irony is after awhile on the horde I literally got tried of winning. All the steam rolling vs Alliance grew tiresome. It felt like I was hitting sentient punching bags all day and not being tested or improving because of it. So I switched back to Alliance.

I played both faction on classic to r14 and basically horde have a huge ratio of more GAMERS. A gamer wants to WIN, ally has a bunch of DADS with no pride who will 10 man ghost as a premade because they’re actually trash 9/10 times and just queue for shiny gear

When I played horde with my premade the same alliance teams would sit at their gy and not even fight us if they recognized our team.

I have been Horde since Classic launched and have just recently made an Alliance character.

I have won maybe 5 BGs but I honestly don’t think it’s even 5.

probably just bad luck.

Don’t really think alliance is doing much worse than horde right now tbh.

If you ignore premades, it sort of feels like horde wins AB more while alliance wins WSG more in pug v pug.

This is all anecdotal, but I’ve noticed that alliance are more likely to fight together in a large deathball while horde are more likely to try to fight solo.

That tends to work to alliance’s favor in WSG where the deathball just eats up horde, while it works to the horde’s favor in AB where the alliance’s larger groups tend to mean they’re more likely to give up a 3rd post than horde leading to more horde 3-2 advantages. Even if alliance takes a 3rd, usually means giving up another a bit later since too many people were sent to the 3rd outpost.

Of course this is all anecdotal, but I’ve played hundreds of WSG/ABs the past few weeks and noticed that I’m doing a lot better in AB than WSG.

Could also have to do with alliance almost always having more healers (i.e. Paladins that have a heal button on their bars unlike horde meme specs that rarely heal).

AV is hot garbage for alliance, so don’t even bother. As far as AB and WSG go I feel it’s be pretty even, at least in my experience.

My anecdotal would agree with yours. I’ve had better luck as alliance in WSG than AB. A good hpally in WSG is a game changer, IMO. My WSG win rate sits around 60% pretty consistently, solo or with one other player. My AB hovers between 45-55% again solo or with one other player.

Idk about that, they’re fantastic in AB and not bad at all in WSG.
