Why do you want the old UI?

thanks for proving my point

I’ve seen threads here complaining about being forced to upgrade their ancient hard drives or not being able to keep Win 7. So I’m not surprised that a simple UI change would freak some players out.

Absolutely nothing I said proved your point. Maybe spend less time being a fool and more time being smart. It will help you.

You are clearly wrong of course, I support Ukraine, as does my GF who is from Ukraine. In fact, she was visiting her family in Ukraine when this war started and I went over there to get her and her family out of Ukraine. If the US finally allows me to renew my passport, I will likely go back. To rejoin the thousands of others foreign nationals, a great many of them US citizens and former US military, to help Ukraine fight the Russian invaders.

So, you see, you are clearly wrong, or a blatant liar.

It’s fine, just:

  1. I can’t seem to turn off the text that hovers over every ability I cast. I had to put that box in the left bottom corner to get it out of the way but it’s still kind of distracting and annoying during combat. Is that some mistake they plan to fix? I don’t remember that being like that before the change.

  2. I like the smaller bars of the portraits the way they were before. They looked cleaner and more polished; the new ones seem a bit cartoonish to me, but not that big of a deal.

  3. The minimap seems more cluttered than I’d prefer, but again, no biggie.
Edit: ok, fixed this. Found the tiny tracing binoculars that replaced the magnifying glass.

The function is fine, it’s the aesthetic. Looks like it should belong in Call of Duty.

You can shrink the bars by clicking on them in edit mode, and then there’s a scale on the little pop up window/menu thing that pops up. Not pop tarts, I don’t like my tarts to pop, I prefer them dressed sl . . . LOOK! It’s Elvis!

The graphics were better. Actual fantasy styled background art to place your buttons on, not this semi-Brutalist post modern crap that wouldn’t look out of place in an Apple presentation.

Thank you!

Np, just trying to help. Uh, don’t tell anyone though, I have a bad reputation to uphold. :smiling_imp:

i’d like an option for the old UI cause i hate minimalistic UIs. Tried Elvui and a few others but i found them overwhelming to try and set up. I also just hate how colorless everything is and that i cant resize the mini menu. with how grey it is and the icons being so small it makes it difficult for me to see despite having glasses. with the old one i could at least distinguish things by color and the text wasnt as tiny either.

currently using bartender and the classic skin and it helps but only in sizing the icons to be actually readable really. i cant imagine how bad it is for people with even worse vision problems then me

Because it was simple, well designed, had soul, and looked better? If I wanted ‘all the customization’ that even the new UI still lacks, there was addons for that. People already had ‘their’ UI they wanted made, and Blizzard took that away. Seen too many people quit over it already until old UI comes back, too.

People say this too but the OSRS UI is still better for the game than the RS3 UI too, a lot of peoples main complaint trying out RS3 is having to ‘build’ your own UI to try to keep up with stuff and the ‘base’ ui is awful to experience the game in.

BECAUSE I have too many Good and bad memories attached to the OLD UI!

One of the things people are complaining about is the new minimap. The new minimap is honestly so sleek and beautiful. Is it bigger? Yes, does it bother me, no. People just complain to complain.

I work in property management, I just renovated my laundry room with new machines, new paint, new flooring, new lights. Literally had someone who has been there for 20+ years call me and complain that the new flooring and paint, while it’s renovated it isn’t the same as they remember and therefore they hate it because it’s unfamiliar to them. It’s literally the same. You can’t ever please everyone.

My solution to that complaint was to tell them that the renovations were done and Im very sorry they don’t like them and if it bothers them that much they are more than welcome to put in their 30 days notice and move out.

It should have at least been an option. Or have a default that is almost exactly like the old one. The “classic” one they have doesn’t cut it.

Personally, I like the new UI. I used and loved the old one, but I enjoy the little customization options I have now. I moved the speech thing up to the corner so I can ignore them better. lol I never used a UI addon because I figured they’d be way too overwhelming for me in terms of setup and all of the customization options. Less is more for me in a lot of cases.

I still think there are definite improvements that need made (being able to adjust the sizes of all boxes, making the map bigger/smaller, making the clock not the size of an ant, etc.). But I think it’s a good start, and I keep making little adjustments here and there. I like it.

So there is this misconception that everyone who is saying they want the old look back doesn’t want the customization, thats not true. There are those like me who’s asked for years for more customization to be added to the default UI. But I wanted to retain the look, I did not want a z-perl/x-perl meshed with elvui and then had a baby with the stock UI type of look - if I had preferred those looks I would have had the features I’ve been wanting for years already, cus I would have just used one of those addons.

Asking for the option of the old skin being possible to be used on stuff like player frame, target frame, mini map etc. does in no way take away anything from the new UI. It doesn’t make any of you who are happy and satisfied with the new UI forced to toggle a legacy mode.

There was perhaps very little noise on this leading up to 10.0 largely because we were led to believe there would be a classic option. And I have lost count the amount of times I have to say over these past few days, that no! Simply moving the location of the elements is not what what classic mode implies. By that definition I have been playing with the modern UI for years already, as I have had my player frame and target frame moved to where it is now by default on the “modern” setting.

It’s simple really, we all like different things - and for this it would have been very nice of blizzard to add more rather than give something while taking something else away.

There’s not much new about it is why I think the rage is crazy. For starters there wasn’t much to the old ui to begin with it was very basic.

The dramatic difference between that ui and the new is

You can at least move and to a lesser extent resize most boxes, old ui was locked couldn’t move anything.

So how’s the downsize to having options of moving things?

Next they updated the graphics made them with no sharp edges smack gold colored scheme on them . They probably should have done this two expansions ago to be honest.

It’s just stupid way too much drama over the ui. Now some say it crashes that’s different that’s justifiable frustration.

Mine doesn’t crash.
