Thanks for testing the ptr. I never test it. I prefer playing the patch when it goes live.
What motivates you to test it? Is their a reward of some kind? You like helping blizz? You like seeing bugs and reporting them for fun?

People want the next patch to be as bug free as possible. The real question is why they continue to test the PTR when so often their feedback is ignored or discarded.
We’re more creative and numerous, they cant find all the bugs on their own. We do things out of the ordinary or activities they might not have thought about. Would you prefer bugs and balances be discovered while testing or when it goes live?
for some, it gives an edge in RWF.
for some, it gives a sneak peak at content.
again thankyou for testing it. I think its great.
Yep. If you can count on an internet community to do one thing, it’s break stuff.
To check out what’s new with my class if anything.
Some people want to familiarize themselves with mechanics before the seasons out and people are mad at them for dying.
I literally only play PTR to test classes and tier sets.
I like to go into a season with a main picked out beforehand, the PTR allows me to do that. Nothing kills a season more for me than rerolling several weeks in.
For example without the PTR I’d probably be all excited for Hunter changes. But now I know it’s a lot of noise and not a lot of substance. Had I waited until live servers to discover this, my momentum would be gone.
I used to go on the PTR back in the day for the mass scale world pvp where there’d be millions of bones everywhere and was a sight to behold. Is it still like that?
People treat PTR like early access. Next to nobody uses PTR or even (and especially) beta to actually test things like an actual proper QA professional would/does.
Are you suggesting that live isn’t riddled with unbalanced classes and lots of bugs?
To make sure it’s playable for people such as yourself who want to wait and not get spoiled, since the QA department is basically nonexistent now.
Also to help with any balance issues, dumb ideas they make, etc.
Not that they listen most of the time… but it’s at least a shot to help out.
When I play on PTR, it’s because I want to play WoW but I’m kind of done/bored with the current patch. Sometimes class changes really excite me, and I want to try them out ahead of time to see if I might want to focus more on that class when the patch actually hits.
edit: I never test any bugs or report anything to blizzard. Never will unless they pay me.
