Why Do You Play WoW?

Why do you play WoW?

The skills can be aesthetically pleasing.
I’ve invested over 12+ years off and on, on this game.
I don’t really have friends on here, so the ability to do dungeons without having to use something like /4 in classic is nice.

I enjoy the playstyle, and the many different options for what you would like to do during your play time. Today I may do WQs, but tomorrow I might want to go into the old world and search for rare pets or transmogs, etc.

The feeling of advancing your character and growing, getting that rare drop or special piece of gear, is fulfilling, and rather addictive at times.

WoW is family time in my house. We’ve been playing a long time. My kid grew up with it.

And after so many years, Azeroth is like comfort food. I work in a competitive, deadline-driven field that not very many people make it in. I’ve gotten more and more casual as my career has progressed; I play WoW to get away from that pressure and unwind.

Right at the moment? Waiting for 9.1, and my guild will be back for raiding. Playing with friends is absolutely key to long term enjoyment of this game for me.

Overall? The combat mechanics are quite good, as is the art style. It’s a really fun game in certain ways, and also an incredibly cheap dollar / hour entertainment value.

it’s some combination of friends and force of habit. i’m sure there’s a nugget of fun in there somewhere, too

I enjoy raid healing.

like alot.

Force of habit, familiarity, some level of sunk cost, but ultimately I love the world and stories of Azeroth and the WoW universe, sometimes enough to ignore how badly the developers are treating it.

I like the art style and feel of the game. Nothing else comes close too it.

Currently doing loremaster in chrome time. Turned off experience gain at level 49. Also to wpvp in chrome time.

Old world content is too trivial at level 60 to be fun.

Shadowlands is very small and to be honest there isn’t much that interests me in it’s current state.

10 responses and only one person thus far has said fun, which is telling.

I continue to play atm only because some of my og guild came back and I am playing with them. If it wasn’t for that, most likely would not be. Game and myself have both changed and I what I want it’s not offering.

Despite the changes since first joining during BC it’s the nostalgia each time I log in. Whether good or bad I can jump in and enjoy something.

It’s a fun game to play

It’s the only game where I can get drunk, roll my face across the keyboard, and still get epic lewts.

Inexpensive diversion away from real life. At least for a few hours each week.

I very much enjoy the lore and the world (including such forays into Outland or Draenor or the Shadowlands). I enjoy the game play and watching my character do these amazing things in combat. I like killing things and taking their stuff. I like to see my character grow and interact with the world around him (which, yes, includes “borrowed power” mechanics like artifact weapons, the Heart of Azeroth, and the like).

Pretty much, for me, WoW fires on all cylinders.

I will say that for me, while I’m not a “WoW RPer” in the sense that I don’t RP interact with others, when I’m playing I am definitely RPing my character in my head. And I have STRONG head-canon for all my characters. There are times that I’ll run old raids/dungeons, or go back to Argus, just because in my head Ashnazg gets word that Legion remnants are flaring up and he has to go squash them. Just as an example.

To be fabulous.

The Warcraft story and lore has gripped me since 1994 when I was in high school. Of course, back then, it was just a fun game that I played over dialup with my friends… building up my orc base and absolutely destroying my friend’s village. haha stupid humans

Anyway, I am pretty much a diehard Warcraft fan. Even when I quit the game after Cataclysm, I still considered myself a fan. I watched cinematics as they would come out, and tried to keep up on what was happening in game.

I think the game is a ton of fun now, much more so than when I played before. Especially fury warrior.
