Why do you play Ret?

It just seems so stale and lacking variety from other melee.

Implying other melee aren’t stale and didn’t get screwed by the prune LOL

I mean all you do is hit people with AAA battery flashlights …

Ret has been my main alt since BC. Just always been a fun spec even if its design is 10x worse than every other spec in the game.

Ret is SUPER satisfying to win on. Mainly because you know you’re at a disadvantage, but at the same time you feel like a nuclear bomb when you get to connect with wings. The numbers alone bring enough satisfaction for me to play as an alt.

mainly because were a glutton for punishment holding on to our formerselves. Which shadowlands is finally bringing back

This is mouse #3 over the course of Bfa alone. It’s not enjoyable even when you win.
There are some positive changes coming in SL but so far nothing about the wheelchair. The wheelchair is probably the worst part of ret atm.

Nothing tilts me like playing my Ret. I remember the first time I watched pikachu stream and saw him rage when he was kited and controlled like someone’s plaything and I realized it wasn’t just me that feels like that. Aside from that we’re the hottest spec in the game so I can’t just give that up.

Maybe because they like to use the AAA on the lights of flesh.

Hunter and Ret have been my 2 main classes / specs since vanilla and TBC. I mostly don’t move on because I don’t follow the whole “FOTM reroll” train. That and I always hold on to the hope that one day Ret will eventually be extremely fun again like it was in WOTLK.

can you ret people tell me when, if ever, should i play inquisition in arena

Well divine purpose isn’t really a valid option so anytime you don’t play crusade basically. You play crusade vs stuff you know can’t kite you very well like locks generally, but I’ve been playing it constantly this season.

I have 2 haste proc corruptions and have gotten over 100% haste at max crusade stacks. If you play visions of perfection as well it’s possible to get procs during crusade and get 40 and maybe even 50 seconds straight of wings if you’re extremely lucky and get 2 prices during it. If you use hand of reck beforehand you could theoretically get 12 sec of wings then 50 seconds of wings then go back into the 12 sec wings almost right after.

It’s pretty confusing for bad teams, and a lot will use big cd’s on small wings then you can just bang them on big wings. Or with crusade they immediately use a defensive even though your damage isn’t ramped up yet then it’ll wear off before you get 10 stacks and you can just blast them.

Generally though most rets would only play crusade if they know their target will have low mobility and they aren’t looking to drop them in a short burst window. With the C&S major, 5% speed gem, and 5% speed from naz essence I can run at 140% during freedom so it helps a lot to stay on target during wings but you def will still get cc’d/kited for good periods of time still.

Big hammers

because it’s holy paladin

I’ve been asking myself this question everyday since mop. It’s literally hiding in the shadows of its true former self, Cataclysm.

And looking at the new preview i’ve been disappointed so much that I might switch to rogue or shaman.

Baseline SAC and word of glory along with Concentration aura sounds like a damn good time to play ret in SL.

I am a masochist

I run inquisition like 99% of the time. The only time I don’t is when I’m either 1. Trolling in 2s 2. Need to one shot an rdruid in 2s 3. Fighting like warr/dh or tsg. I generally run crusade but inquisition is pretty much always good regardless of matchup. Vanguards pretty much runs zeal/bow/inquisition literally every game. He only swaps short wings out for law and order or vengeance aura.
