Your chose the race of your main (or mains, if you’re someone who plays multiple characters) for a reason. Share those reasons here!
I rolled Stylo as a troll, which I loved, before swapping to Alliance to play with some RL friends and changing him to draenei in the process. Those friends left and I missed my old guild, so I came back to Horde, which left me with the decision of choosing my race once more. Ultimately, despite my complete and utter disdain for Sylvanas and Nathanos, I went Forsaken. Why? Because I love looking like an Iron Maiden album cover. I love how utterly metal Forsaken are. I love the headbanging dance I’ve done myself in dozens of mosh pits. There are tons of classes that are far more metal than a monk, but I love this class too much to play anything else, so going Forsaken was the only way I can have my cake and eat it too.

Because it was either this or a dwarf, and by the time there were any more options, I was too attached to human to change.

My main is this character. She has been a Night Elf, Troll, Worgen, Tauren, back to Troll, and finally back to Night Elf. It is the race that makes the most sense for a Druid to me.

I decided that I wanted a character with good posture and boots after playing a male Orc and an Undead as my main Horde characters from vanilla to mid-Wrath.
Was unbelievably overpowered in tbc with heroic presence.
Because I look good in gear and everything I do. If you’ve got it, show it off.
But I also chose human because it fit the story I had in mind for her and, contrary to some opinions, I don’t find humans boring at all. I think they’re interesting and really enjoy playing them.

I wanted to make a hunter, saw trolls had a racial bonus to bows (back then, Wrath). Ended up liking the male troll’s animations (and tusks). Later, when I was reading all the in-game lore (Well Read achievement), my mind was blown how trolls were the first sapient race on the planet and used to be this huge empire that broke the Qiraji’s empire. It was the coolest thing I saw done for fantasy trolls, where they’re usually just dumb fodder for good guys.
Edit: And dinosaurs! DINOSAURS!

Because Blood Elves just look great. They can rock any mogs or bikiinis.

Well I was originally a Tauren, which I hate, then as soon as Troll Druids became a thing I race changed because Trolls are the master race. Shoes are for the weak.
because I actually enjoy the “human potential” cliche.
and because I didn’t want to play a gnome or a dwarf at the time, and I was definitely not going to play a furry.

I played Horde for years, mained a Druid for most of it but tried a Mage for fun at the beginning of this xpac. That character is Forsaken. Call me what you will but this storyline has sorta killed my desire to play Horde so I switched to Alliance full time and wanted to go back to a Druid. It was either this or Worgen…I don’t mind Night Elves though so i’m okay with my choice.

I first started Blood elves seemed super evil but awesome. Their looks blew away both night elf and humans. What really got me to make a belt was the burning crusade box.

Undead master race. We are superior to everyone. Also Dark Lady>other racial leaders.

The Dwarven Race will always be close to heart for me when it comes to character creation. The “game” may change, but the passion of the stoneskin will never fade!

Night elf because I really wanted to be a druid and really did not want to be a worgan. It’s really grown on me, however, especially with this expansion and 8.1 story. I love the flip when they jump around, their jump and down thing they do when waiting.
Other main is void elf because if I have absolutely free reign, I make characters short and petite as it reflects myself in real life more. Of course I don’t have void tentacles or anything but I love celestial themed things and the void certainly is very pretty.
In the end, if given the option of celestial or mermaids themed races those would be my first pick, but anything close to nature (certain subraces of elves, for example) or fae themed would be next. I’m disgustingly girly sometimes, much to my chagrin.

I don’t think I choose a specific race for a specific reason most of the time. I hop to Draenei a lot so clearly I have some preference there aesthetically, but ultimately I change at least a couple times per expansion on whatever character I’m maining at the time. I don’t do it weekly like some people, but still a fair amount. 1 expansion [Legion] was the shortest I’ve ever played a main, so maybe the lack of attachment played a role in why I race changed more then than any other expansion.
(late) WotLK:
- Paladin: Human
- Shaman: Draenei
Cata:
- Paladin: Human -> Draenei -> Human
- Purely aesthetics; Spent most of xpack Human
MoP:
- Shaman: Draenei -> Pandaren -> (prepatch) Draenei
- Story Relevance; Spent most of xpack Pandaren
WoD:
- Shaman: Draenei -> Dwarf -> Draenei
- Looking for a change; Spent most of xpack Draenei for Story Relevance
Legion:
- Priest: Draenei -> Night Elf -> Draenei -> Pandaren -> (prepatch) Gnome
- Aesthetics, except Pandaren for racials; Pretty even time split
BfA:
- Shaman: Draenei
- No change yet, but may end up Kul Tiran, we’ll see
More recently I’ve been wanting to grow my alt stable to be a bit more diverse. All of my alts are closer to max level than they have been in previous expansions and the only repeat race is Pandaren, which I will likely delete as I made a repeat of that character’s class as a Dark Iron Dwarf.
I think the result of that will be fewer race changes in general going forward to avoid ruining the balance. That said, I mentioned potentially swapping my current Draenei to Kul Tiran, and I rationalize that because of the fact that I also have a Lightforged Draenei, which is basically identical to regular Draenei, whereas my Void Elf is unique for Alliance and I don’t have a regular Dwarf but do have a DI Dwarf. I would change my monk (another duplicate now that I mention it, Human), but I truly do not enjoy playing monk, so I won’t waste the money on it.
Because orcs are awesome.
Once you go green you’ll know what I mean!
Hmmm…I pretty much have characters of literally every race except gnome, worgen (but only because I’m waiting for the models to be NOT hideous, then I’ll make one), pandaren, goblin and tauren. But my three favorite races to make characters from are undead, human and blood elf…mainly because the RP pretty much writes itself for those characters (and as someone who likes reputation rewards the human bonus 10% is nice).
Demon Hunter + Alliance + shadowmeld = No choice.
