Why do you play a Monk?

Hello monk friends. We are certainly the least played class, which only means we’re the most special /hairflip

We can fulfill every role but we’re certainly ignored for many reasons. Now Blizz has a DK expac coming, a DH coming to HS and we are not even part of this pandaria patch so yeah that’s sad yet still we keep going.

But why? why do you choose to play a monk?

Personally, monks are just fun. WW was more fun in legion , but that’s true for most classes and specs, still, WW is just really interesting with its fast-paced play-style that rewards you for chaining abilities, fun non-disruptive animations and cool abilities like SEF, SFK and Xuen. With so much mobility and stuff like Karma monks are just awesome for me.

Plus only Draenei leather class.

I love the theme. I love the animations. I really love Pandaria and the epic feeling playing a Pandaren monk evokes. I do miss using my weapon though and having a 2 handed staff as WW.

Overall monk is just fun! However, I agree the class was more fun prior to BFA.

if brewmaster had a dps option I’d play monk for sure. not sold on the windwalker playstyle though

Because I needed one of everything. He also happens to be a Darkspear Troll… again, because I need one of everything.

I’ve mained a monk almost since they came out. It’s turned into my natural calling. Really fun to play and I love the theme and lore. I’ve always been a fan of martial arts in fantasy.

Sorry… what does that mean? A DH coming to HS?

Edit: Hearthstone? Geez. People seem bent out of shape over that.

Because it’s so different. And physically intense.

Oh, and because I’m hot when I kickbutt !

Its one few classes that take some brain power. some better than none to me.

I love my monk alt only reason i can’t main them is the lack of ranged dps spec sounds odd i know.

At the time MoP was my first expansion so Monk ended up being my first character because I am a fan of fighting games and martial arts movies. I do not main that character but he is my designated Monk alt. I love the animations. For reference, my Monk alt is Faloyd-WyrmrestAccord, you have likely seen me post on him. :stuck_out_tongue:

Also, I hear this in my head every time I cast Fists of Fury.

Because people viewed monks and MoP as Kung Fu Panda, cartoonish expansion

and because it started at level 1, lazy people wanted to play something thats already ahead like DK, DHs made it worse coming Legion

Monk tends to feel higher risk and higher reward to me than many other classes.

A close second would be enhancement shaman. Which… arguably may be more high risk/reward than monk.

But, monk requires some thought to play well. A BrM that does not think is soon squished. A MW that does not think is going to OOM very fast. A WW that does not think is going to miss a lot of DPS or just die.

Monk tends to be rewarding if the player is focused. You can’t really mentally disengage and expect to do well at all.

This is subjective, but it tends to be my take away from monk.

I would play but whirlng dragon punch has gotten me killed too many times. I rerolled as a result. Yes I apparently suck because of this. Oh and in TD using that ability counts as “moving” yeah F that. nope.

The second character I ever made was a monk. I’ll admit I made her just because I was really into anime at the time.

I hear this xD

Mistweaver has been a disaster of a spec ever since the 7.0 rework

Altho the 8.3 buffs and corruption paired together enabled a busted build that brings back some nostalgia of raid-wide Uplift spams, so I’ve been setting up a monk recently.

Would instantly main this class again if mistweaver gets a decent rework in shadowlands

I like the lore behind monk more than any other class. The setting and aesthetic is really cool, it’s got an exotic flair relative to the rest. Versatile specs make it so you can have a few monks and play each differently. It’s a good self-sustaining class. The ability animations are cool, they’re super mobile, and they’re just overall really fun to play.

Monk was my first ever wow character so I experienced most of the entire game as a monk. Plus its good for farming since you can spin everything.

Created this monk in legion to farm xavius shoulders and also for the artifact skins and class mount, which is interactive.
This is one of my favorite classes, since they can do all roles and is pretty mobile
