I honestly think it’s because I’m too lazy to reroll.
What about you?

Put too much work into it to reroll. I have been trying out prot and I’ve found its the most fun spec for pallys. I have so many cooldowns to live forever and so many interrupts with shield resets. Just finished a Motherlode +11 with 76 interrupts :o
Same as Bluedrop, I have just put too much work into this character over the years. I now only play Holy in raid. Questing/dungeons/mythic+ I do all in Ret spec.
Because out of all the healers I’ve ever dabbled in, Holy’s modern melee dps heal style is the most fun healing experience I have had!
I wouldn’t even have been playing it if not for an experience at this last Blizzcon doing a M+ run with my fellow MVP’s in which I got forced into the healer role.
After that I came home and started playing it more and more and am in love with the spec now. Honestly, if they ever went back to the old full on turret style of healer I’d probably stop playing holy.
I will say I would love to see holy push further into the melee healer side of things, as controversial a statement that is to make here.
Also, three of the top five threads in the Paladin forums right now are on Holy and roughly the same conversation/discussion.
My main frustration with WoW has been the changes that are generally pretty dramatic and spec-altering. People play a class/spec because they like it, and changing everything all the time is frustrating.
It’s like going to your favorite Chinese restaurant to discover the only serve Italian food. You don’t like Italian food, but you drove all that way and now you are forced to choose between doing all the work to get to another restaurant or just eating something you won’t enjoy as much and didn’t expect.
I am not even a Paladin, I am just thinking about trying it out now that Lightforged are a thing and I am slightly obsessed with them. However, I feel for the holy paladins now because the class is radically different than what it used to be.
This is also why I oppose things like the gcd changes. I actually LIKE the changes, but it’s not WoW’s style. People signed up and paid to go play their favorite game and you dun changed the menu on them. I am opposed to changing things fundamental to a game people enjoy.
My main gripe with melee holy is that it’s very unfun in very dynamic situations where it’s difficult to maintain melee range. For example in a laggy large scale world PvP situation when targets teleport. Or against a very mobile target. The melee burst healing cooldown feels very unrewarding, if you can’t maintain uptime on target. It invades melee dps mindset territory and that’s what bothers me the most I think. I play ret mostly, but when I’m in healing mentality, I want to stay back and support rather than run into the fray.
I think I would enjoy melee healer more if they went full on melee. So that it’s not a mix of DPS and Heal abilities, but DPS abilities that Heal. Currently, there is a this thing, when you switch to DPS rotation while Avenging Crusader is up and use Heal spells otherwise. It feels off to me. I’d rather them go all the way rather than stay in the middle.
I mean, it’s not all doom and gloom. I’m glad you’re enjoying Holy so much! Ultimately, I love my character and I want Holy as a spec to do well and that’s why I post in the forums. I want to see Holy go either full time turret or full time melee. Blizzard has to make a decision and go with it. Our current iteration is a half-baked, stuck in limbo, kinda melee healer and it’s frustrating to play at times. I personally LOVE melee healing (I’m lookin’ at you old Eminance Mistweaver<3).
So my hope is that after this expansion Blizzard really looks at Holy and makes a firm decision on what it’s supposed to be.
I play all the healers and right now pally appeals to me so much because of the spot healing role it does so well. My main, Disc, is tremendous at burst AoE healing but flat out terrible at spot healing, so I love playing my pally alt for something completely different and getting to feel useful filling in all the holes everyone’s blanket AoE heals miss.
“pally appeals to me so much because of the spot healing role it does so well.”
Have you tried playing a mistweaver monk? The BFA Holy Paladin is the worst healing class in the history of WOW in my opinion. The spot heals are weak even when they crit. Spot healing on a mistweaver monk is a genuine pleasure and the overall character game play feels smooth and fluid. The Holy Paladin feels restricted and clumsy with no real upsides. Tank healing is a breeze with the mistweaver, literally just press one button and sit back and grab a sip of your drink for 8 seconds while renewing mist keeps them healed on its own.
The present state of the Holy Paladin is crap. No big aoe spells to compete with other healing classes. No big “wow” moments that get you excited to play the character. Nothing special or unique that makes playing them feel like you are actually contributing. The only reason raid groups still take Holy Paladins is for damage mitigation. I rerolled mistweaver and immediately climbed to the top of the charts in my raid group and feel as though I am contributing again. But now they want me back on my Holy Paladin for damage mitigation in Mythic and I’m not going back.
I’m starting to think your just trolling the Paladin forums ranting how holy is the worst and MW is meta
You just draw negativity man, contribute nothing to threads and want to boost your own class ego
I have, and it was a complete bore. You said it yourself, “literally just press one button and sit back and grab a sip of your drink for 8 seconds.” That’s not engaging gameplay to me. I know what most people want is to be easily top of the meters, but for me that’s a hollow victory. If I can roll my face across the keyboard and top the meters without putting in too much effort, it doesn’t feel like I really accomplished anything at all. I’d rather be bottom of the meters but know that I played an essential role and that it took skill to do so.
Classy move accusing someone of trolling because they have a different opinion - and a valid one at that.
Mwer has a much better kit than hpal and is more fun and dynamic. Hpal is a shadow of its former self and really unfun in its current iteration.
Holy Pally = Disc Priest. Just not as good in PVP.
I haven’t played holy since WoTLK
