The patch is the difference between selling an experience and selling nostalgia.
I want to experience Vanilla, I want to be there like I wasn’t opening day 2004.
I want to play the game I never knew and as it seems, never will.
It is lazy Blizzard all over again. They are not giving us Vanilla, they are giving us a patch that will last until we get tired of playing it.
nevermind new AV, nevermind warrior threat, nevermind any of that.
THERE’S NO SWIRLY BALL.
I specifically am not playing a rogue because of it. This was a huge nerf to rogues everywhere and the start of wow’s decline imo.
People will always complain - It is a staple of WoW.
There is no best place to start - and, ideally, you want less changes being made.
To ask them to start from Launch - and keep patching the exact same way is ridiculous.
Vanilla is Vanilla - People play 1.12 on Private servers for a reason - because it is less buggy and honed alot fo what people want from the game.
My guess is March or April betting on April tho, with it being 6 months after basically any news has been said.

Fairly certain people play on PSs simply for lack of alternative way to play vanilla, not because it is 1.12.
I like 1.12 just fine. I am not so concerned with reliving all the growing pains of 1.0 to 1.11.
I’m just going to be happy being back in the world that existed before the abomination that was cataclysm.
Yup, this is exactly right and I will keep playing on Pservers if Blizz Fs this up.
Being static is the hardest part—no highs and lows, no FOTM rotating thru or anything special to keep up on. Right now, their release is fixed to 1.12, but I think that after a year or two they’ll likely need to do some type of ‘seasons’ and/or continue w/ Classic TBC, etc.
I played D2 on repeat for so many years, and ladder resets did help keep it from getting stagnant years-in
Blizzard stated that 1.12 was the most complete data wise. Additionally, 1.12 was not the BC prepatch.
I really hope transmog does make it in, if for no other reason than people could put on [Rose Colored Glasses]
Yes it was, read the patch notes.
Still no swirly ball.
Well Id like to play AV the original way but thats about it
AV is the only thing I have concerns with. It’s like night and day between the beginning and end patch.
I always heard the crazy AV stories, but I didn’t know the shift to Zerg rush mode happened just before BC. I’d prefer prior to that where it’s a mix of PvE and PvP.
This is your first post after coming back from your vacation? lol.
I’m not specifically against 1.12. That said, anything 1.9 or higher ran paladin tanking through the ringer unless you were in a T2 guild. Not that it was the end all be all before, but at least you could gear for tanking without needing access to spell power gear. So not the end of the world, but for me it kinda kills any incentive I have to really invest in it (at least for now…that might change once it comes out).
You’re incorrect.
You’re incorrect.
“Temporary item buffs (e.g. poisons, sharpening stones and shaman weapon buffs) will no longer persist through zoning or logging out due to technical issues. This feature is anticipated to be activated once more with the expansion.”
By the way. If you like this pre-TBC patch that brought 0 content, just a rogue re-work that nobody asked for, this little thing should be as broken as back then.
This is your first post after coming back from your vacation? lol.
Still struggling with your GPU?
Changes!!
AV
Repeating the dislike for 1.12 because of X-BG’s and “scuffed” AV.
Cross server BG’s ruined same server competition between horde & alliance, especially for BG teams that had moved all of their assuming players to and through rank 12-14. Q’ing from that point on as a team, 90% of the time resulted in getting a game against pug scrubs that would be steamrolled/afk against an established pre-made. 9% of the time, your team might get a Q pop against a different servers grind team, but they’d either dodge or take a quick loss aiming for optimal honor per hour. Ultimately, facing off against your opposing factions main team became a nightmare if you were playing for the spirit of competition and hard won fights against equally geared & skilled players who weren’t focused on getting a teammate to a certain rank.
Edit/add: Cross server BG’s also, in one way or another made the grind for GM/HWL for late comers, much worse. Required weekly honor became super inflated not proportionately because Q times were driven down and it became much more difficult for anyone to keep their word to maintaining a weekly cap (that helped limit how much everyone would have to grind). I’d also say it exacerbated account sharing, which was already a problem with the honor system, but more so with cross server BG’s, because of the new demand of inflated honor required to make weekly gains in a rank.
As for AV. A lot of little changes that gave us the AV we have today, some patches in BC & Wrath too (and have had for many many years, nothing more than a race to the end). Before 1.12, it was as close, in my mind, to what War Fronts in retail should have been closely modeled after in spirit.
