Why do YOU hate Genn Greymane?

As an Alliance player, Genn was a nice breath of fresh air to the lore. He wasn’t exactly a “nice” or “good” character, he was stern, kind of a prick, and losing his kingdom, made him vengeful.

All in all, it gave us an Alliance character that wasn’t a day care teacher. One of the few Alliance characters to actually do anything productive against The Horde.

Really makes me sad when I see people cry out for this guy to die. One of the only Alliance characters that does anything.

He was interesting… and then they turned him into a Wrynn puppet.

Hopefully with his disappointment at the end of the war, and Tyrandes notable absence, we’ll see him take his own spot light away from Anduin.

I don’t hate him, I hate the “I hate the Horde” gimmick. It’s not going to go anywhere. Blizzard isn’t going to write that Genn and Tyrande obliterate the horde and so there’s really only two (threeish) outcomes.
1.) They just learn to work with the Horde. A weak story that we’ve had time and time again and
2.) They die off or leave because it’s easier to kill them off and put someone more passive in their place.

It seems to me that all of the leaders that, “stir things up,” or have strong opinion get villainized and killed off.

Genn has a hawkish outlook and makes me want to kill him.

Garrosh was the same way; making me love him.

Beware; Genn may experience the same character assassination.

Because he was a coward. During the second war, when the Alliance of Lordaeron needed Gilneas the most, he hid behind his walls.

Which sucks for Tyrande because there’s no way she’s not going to be killed off. Blizz wrote themselves into a corner with her.

I reflect the question to you “Why do you hate Sylvanas Windrunner?”. Conflicting aspirations, goals and motives.

I hate Genn because he’s been obstacle in everything we try to do. And I want him dead for that very reason.

Never have I said he is a bad character I just hate his motives and he is the villain to my story, you want your enemies dead, and so do I.

Though all in all, I do hope they don’t kill him off because it keeps interesting conflict in the story. But I will always say damn I wanna kill him so badly.

I don’t hate him.

Hate is such a strong word, I don’t think any person in here actually ‘hates’ Genn Greymane.

I think a big problem with Genn is that he’s been the one to carry the “grrr, the Horde! Grr! Sylvanas!” burden by himself for a long time. Obviously he’s had the worst of it with her, since before either was even involved in this big faction hullabaloo. The trouble is that he seems, otherwise, like a reasonable and stoic person. Not great at parties, sure, but a leader.

During Legion, when he wrecked up Sylvanas’ plans with Eyir, it felt kind of petty and uninformed. Like, yes, vengeance, etc., but was there any interest in why she was doing this? And now that she’s out of the picture, Genn’s been almost…agreeable? Like that was his one sticking point with the Horde. I guess that’s good that we don’t have him clamoring for our destruction, but it just makes the last few years of his life seem like a bad mood.

In any case, it looks like Tyrande is going to be giving the master class on righteous fury going forward, and Genn might end up playing more to the middle, cautioning both her and Anduin about their decisions. A wise old wolf.

I dont hate Genn. I love him. He’s the first Alliance character who tells it like it is:

The Horde cant be trusted and must be utterly destroyed if the world is ever to be safe.

That’s not evil. That’s not amoral. That’s just practical. The Horde has shown itself to be nothing but a force of barbarous destroyers, and Genn has seen firsthand just how dangerous they are, and was proven right when Teldrassil was burned.

Genn is my kind of guy. The one who unflinchingly holds his position because he knows he’s right, and doesnt apologize for doing everything he can to stop the bad guys.

Says it!
Full half my ire would fade forever, if Genn would just slap some sense into that boy, send him back to school and step up and BE A KING!

I dislike Genn because of the mirror image with Sylvanas that Blizzard ignores:

Sylvanas was turned into a monster by Arthas.
Genn chose to become a monster by unleashing the Worgen curse.

They’re both monsters. But Sylvanas became a monster against her will; Genn did it by choice.

He’s more stale then 5 gum from 2011 that just sold for 15$ off of eBay.

His whole purpose to hate the horde is so old, it’s older then him. I get his son died but that was 9 years ago? Move on like everyone else did. He’s very predictable too cringe/annoying.

this is pretty much where i’m at with him as well.
