Why do you DK?

Why not Warrior or DH?

Both Warrior (Fury) and DH have better healing and DPS with less rotation/twitch skill required.

Honestly I play all three. Fury warrior, havoc DH, and mainly UH DK.

DKs don’t have worse healing or dps, just a different kind of healing and dps. Our healing is spike healing, not sustain healing. This allows us to offtank on occasion better than DH and warriors could. Arms can do this somewhat with their parry defensive but they lack the sustain healing that fury has.

As for dps… XD. UH DK has some of the highest burst damage in the game. We are an anti burst class that excels at burst damage.

So tell me, why do you play a gnome warrior instead of anything cooler? If you are allowed to question our choice thinking yours is better, I have the same right to ask you something similar.

Why come to the Dk forums asking people why they play dk over another class?

Probably because they enjoy it xD

I used to play fury for years but now it makes my arm feel like it’s about to fall off.

Still trying to learn how to properly play UH, definitely more complicated than fury … but it’s been fun so far

I don’t have 12 years of experience on a DH or Warrior.

I like the necromancer/fallen paladin vibe, I prefer death strike healing over DH. Fury is fun I guess, but unholy dk has way more toolkit pvpwise. Some of that toolkit pretty unique to DK (AMZ, Dark Sim. double interrupts, Cooldown increase through frost)

I’m an edgelord, what else would I play? The emo DHs?

plus frost is cool looking.

I have played both of those. I find warriors to be boring and generic. They also have little in the ranged department.

While DHs don’t have downtime baseline they still don’t really do it for me. They are still almost entirely melee with very few ranged attacks. Eye beam is pretty cool though.

Also, I really like the theme for Frost DK, and DK as a whole, much better than those. Using the chill of winter to slow your enemies until you can deliver the fatal blow.

This is the greatest comment I have read all day :point_right:

I play Warrior and DK equally.

DK has this dominant presence that I just can’t ignore.

Both classes are domineering but in their own way:

  • Warrior is this Unit-AF Underdog that just straight up charges into the Frey with this teeth bearing grit and hatred.

  • DK though is like… Makes eye contact, grabs you by the throat and physically dominates you into submission, they control the dynamic.

There is just something about both of those playstyles that I just can’t seem to get out of a socially correct iron priest or those… identity crisis emos.

I feel it when im tanking M+ like this week’s affixes with Sanguine:

A mob is standing in this red puddle, I don’t want you in there so I’m going to physically move you out of it.

Or I want my DPS underlings to mass AoE cleave a pack down, so Gorefiends grasp, none of you have a choice.

Taunt is fittingly named ‘Dark Command’ you WILL fight me, not the soft clothie.

It’s about dominance the more I think about it, Death Knights command the fight.

I have all three, and like them all for different reasons

DH- good mobility, utility and diverse damage profile. Reasonably straight forward to use
Fury- higher apm spec that has procs. Medium length burst cds to use on priority adds or trash. Good damage profile on smaller groups
Dh- great stack cd damage. King of big group aoe

One of the best thing about Wow presently, is you don’t have to choose just one spec, its simple enough to level and gear multiple chars.

I have all 3 at cap after getting a DK up about 2 weeks ago. The warrior is the one character that I’ve capped that I have spent literally no time on at all at cap because to me warrior is sooooo boring. Maybe I like fancy particals on my screen or something but warrior just ain’t it. Vengeance is currently my favorite tank in the game, but after playing this DK blood is quickly becoming my favorite and Unholy is quickly becoming my favorite DPS spec. I’ve been struggling with what to main going into shadowlands since they’re essentially gutting feral it seems but it definitely feels like it might be the DK.

Because they haven’t offered me a better option for Necromancer, yet. They give me a class as robust as the Necromancy/Dark Mastermind of City of Heroes? I’ll move on from DK.

It was amazing before legion and now I fight for the return of what we lost. Not needing to eat food to go faster etc

It was watered down but still useful

It was the class I fell I love with

Depends on how you look at it.

Doing a weekly low key, assault, and 2-3 emissarys can get your char to a decent minimal viable product (which to me is 80 neck, 3-4 bis essences, decent azerite, 5 or higher on cloak, 445 or higher ilvl). I don’t think its a huge time investment, considering most content is being farmed at this point, and will be until pre patch hits.

Even a normal raid geared char is going to have an easier time getting through the first 2-4 levels then a freshie.

The neck is easy to level. You get to 50 just from doing the first essence questline after going to Nazjatar and the other levels don’t need much (through 80, after that you are just getting small gains).

As for essences, your alts only need to get 500 Echoes of Ny’alotha to get a rank 3 essence your main has earned AND you don’t even need to get any previous ranks NOR do you need to have earned the essence for your specific role. I got the Memory of Lucid Dreams on a fresh hunter before even getting rank 1. My Monk has rank 3 The Ever-Rising Tide despite never earning that particular essence on any character.

As for the cape, that is part of the end game right now. Getting geared up enough to tackle some early cloak ranks shouldn’t be too difficult. If you have been sending the 410 Black Empire pieces from the assaults to your alt as you get them, that provides a decent start. You can also get your other slots filled with the Benthic pieces. It is only the rings, trinkets, and weapon(s) that you will have some difficulty with.

I will say though that any alt made is going to have to simply ignore a lot of the older expansion content in order to reach some semblance of catching up. Any attempt to work on achievements is just going to provide WAY too much to do.
