This is a fun thread!
This character I themed around the Blue Dragonflight. Dracthyr were perfect for giving me exactly what I wanted in a playable Dragon Mage. I haven’t found a mog I want to call my “default mog” for this toon, yet, but I think I will with the Mage tier set in 11.1.
Before, as a Draenei, I designed my character and mog around what a Draenei mage would look like in Azeroth. We really don’t have a lot of lore and barely any representation of Draenei Mages, so I opted for a mixture of Draenei and Kirin Tor looks. The Tomb of Sargeras set mixed with the Antorus set while using the staff from Everbloom. Was the perfect mog for me.
As for the rest of my characters, I tend to do the same thing. Most recently I’ve found a good mix of Stormwind and Paladin for my human paladin and have been enjoying that.
I really like trying to combine two themes and mould my mogs around that.
I have a “brand” of character traits i usually go for in any rpg. It’s very basic. Usually a combination of “idealized version of self” and “traits i find attractive in other men”.
My evoker actually goes off-brand a bit by having red hair, because i normally do solid black, but the red fading into black is just so much better.

I like how they made the CS forums close after two months but they still won’t do it for GD.
the only guiding principle I have for my characters is that I am a brown-skinned male irl so I make brown-skinned male characters.
pretty universal to every game I play.
everything else depends on the race/class and the options available (body type, hair, tattoos, etc).
This was the appearance that was set up when I 1st clicked on the goblin option way back when.
After cycling through the options, I ended up sticking with this appearance.

Before Wow I’ve always played the skeleton/undead/shadowcaster or antagonist type and completely hated the standard decent looking/good/buffed protagonist type until I lost a bet with friends back in Cata and was forced to play what I wouldn’t have tried otherwise.
Now he’s my main and tbh, wow has a severe lack a decent looking male characters.
4 years later oof
P.s. I like the sexy yet badass aesthetic. Therefore I play female characters. Easy explain.
I really wanna make a KT Death Knight but I just can’t get over the beer belly. it looks dumb, I don’t care what justification (something something strongman something something) anyone makes for it. it makes armor look stupid on a KT Male.
My original characters were an attempt to recreate my Ultima Online characters in WoW, complete with continuing their RP stories. Some translated easily. Others … not so much.
