Why do wow tokens cost 20$ but gametime only 15$?

I may be incorrect but if I remember right when wow tokens 1st came out they were to be a form of unification for in game currency to real world money. The price of a token was the price of 1 month sub. I have missed a fue x- pacs and remember them working differently. Im just curious about how this works now. Not complaining about it im just brain scratching and need to know.

price hasn’t changed. Blizzard gets a piece of the cake to for providing the service basically.

Because it was never about game time. It was about getting a piece of the action of gold selling. So they turned a bunch of people into gold farmers under the premise of free game time to cut in on the action.

The WoW token pretty much killed off all the gold selling ads. While you see boosts advertising now, you used to see gold-buying websites advertising constantly in Trade and General (as well as spelling out the website via corpses on the ground). The WoW token almost single-handedly deleted gold-buying advertisements from third party sites. You can go on Classic servers and see these again if you want a good nostalgia trip.

Because blizz pockets the extra $5

This is it.

If you’re a booster and taking gold, you’ve become an employee of Blizzard and your payment is in gold.

Don’t forget you’re also making less than US minimum wage. Work hard and Bobby may invite you onto his yacht to thank you personally for your sacrifice.
