So I’ve had this happen multiple times and it’s really frustrating. For a game that social interaction is so vital, the messaging system is very buggy and just bad.
I just did a dungeon on my mage alt – leveling her up – and there was a level 80 priest healing the normal dungeon. They got a staff that they didn’t need and I asked for it and they were kind enough to trade it to me. Then they asked some questions about what they should be doing for gear because they’re not getting upgrades from normal dungeons.
At the end of the dungeon I had to afk a bit – 5 minutes at most – and I went to whisper the priest to say “hey, I can show you how to get a keystone to do a +2 and I’ll tank it for you as a way to show you the ropes”. Now I’m a guide in wow so I do enjoy helping new players. I also have a less geared but still over geared for a +2 prot paladin that can very much support a newer healer.
BUT! The whisper just doesn’t go through. No error message like they went offline or anything like that. The priest was also a horde character (not that a whisper should fizzle if they’re alliance).
I’ve also had times where I’ve finished a solo shuffle and I’ve received or whispered other players after the solo shuffle. Now if they’re negative I’ll ignore them and if they hostile I’ll report them but I have had neutral to positive messages sent as well (Rare I know) but I like to give credit where credit is due. If someone does great damage or lands a good cc it feels good to cheer them on and let them know. I’ve had these whisper exchanges abruptly stop for whatever reason. Again bugged whisper system…
Please blizzard address these issues. This is why the player base doesn’t trust you to remove addons and add features to replace them. Not that I want this to be an addon thread.
