I have been asking myself this for awhile now. I am finding for myself, that I use the forum:
Usually…
When I get bored with End-game content
When I get burnt out waiting in RBG Q
When I don’t understand something in-game (mechanic, location, etc)
When I encounter an experience I don’t understand (rudeness,etc)
When i want to know if I am the only player to think like (whatever)
Sometimes…
When I feel the need to exercise my mind with a lively discussion
When something in-game is bothering me
Sanity check

Debate
The most prominent is when I am Bored. This week i have spent 10X time on the forum as opposed to in-game. Anyone else?

Usually when I can’t log in - away from home, at work, in the outhouse, waiting for a train, while making love, or walking my dog, or watching TV. This is a pretty entertaining place.

if i’m into a game i’ll usually partake on the forums.
exceptions for some steam games that have you create a whole separate account for their forum website. i’m not going to do it then.
if my game account comes with a forum account i’ll probably use it.

I logged in just to see what was going on and got stuck here. I guess it’s an escape room thing but I just can’t figure out the clues to open the exit door.

Checking the forums is a decent “something to do while waiting for a queue” activity
In the time spent waiting for a BG or something, I can tab out and briefly skim the front page of the forums for any interesting topics

Ditto. Side question, have you had any issues with blue screens when reading forums while logged on? For some reason my system freezes sometimes when i have this forum up and I use some of the advanced layered features (signing up for raids and BG’s…LFG in general). I suspect is has to do with graphics layering or sound channels…
It’s fun to talk about the game with other people who play the game, even if it leans toward being a complaint forum most of the time.
I don’t care much for Reddit’s format so I just don’t use it for anything.

I use mmo-champ and discords as well for wow. What I like about these forums is I don’t have to refresh the page to see replies.
