Why do we need ammo and reagents?

So, a while ago, I realized something thinking about the whole “classic has the RPG elements that BfA doesn’t.” So one of those examples were needing to carry ammo around, and needing to use reagents. But they don’t actually fit in this game. No mage ever mentions needing runes to teleport. No paladin ever needs a symbol of kings. No ranged NPC ever runs out of ammo. So why are we different? Why do we depend on reagents and ammo when the rest of warcraft lore doesn’t?

We need #nochanges.

Let me rephrase since you want to miss the point: Why did we ever need ammo and reagents?

They don’t mention needing these reagents because they are so commonplace and assumed. For example, no paladin is going to say I will now bless all of you with might using my symbol of kings! They just say “I will bless all of you with might!” and everyone knows. As for teleporting, the only teleport mentioned prior to wow was mass teleport, used only by arch mages so sure, they don’t need it, but us normal mages do. Also npcs just really really stocked up on ammo. They have all 12 slots with nothing but ammo and the 0-3 items they drop. If you sit there and let them fire long enough (12200 to 12800) shots, you’ll find they do in fact run out of ammo. Surprise!

Edit: typo

Because how else are we gonna ridicule the people who forgot to bring buff reagents to the raid?

This was already tested back in vanilla, mobs do indeed eventually run out of ammo

It does take a while, be sure to keep a careful count!

Because it costs something to cast that spell. The spell has a worth, even if it’s not much when you get higher level. It takes a spot in your bags. It adds character to your class. Gotta go farm some light feathers. Its funny when you jump off a cliff and realize your slow fall isn’t activating because you don’t have the reagent.

Getting rid of flavor and extraneous stuff gets us closer and closer to retail version. Let’s get rid of reagents, they’re pointless. Let’s get rid of food and water, just have everyone regen quickly after battle. Let’s get rid of gear, just have everyone go up %stats every so much exp. Then we don’t need classes, just dps tank or healer.

What you wouldn’t have any more after the changes are those moments everyone talks about and remembers later. How that hunter ran out of ammo just before the boss, so we made do with a melee hunter. Etc.

All these games will find their roots in D&D type games
MOBs never run out of ammo
Players do, players need ammo, or potions, or consumable items etc. Players need to equip themselves and plan ahead

“Always give a MOB a chance”

Why do mages need mana? Or warriors need rage? Why do we need to buy mounts? Why do we need to do dungeons for good gear? Why do we need stats? Why do we need WoW? I mean, why are we even here, man?

You don’t need ammo and reagents. That’s why they were removed in Wrath.

Things that require reagents are usually useful to more than just yourself.

I know people would rather have prayer of fortitude, than power word. It takes less mana to cast(on a full party) and it lasts twice as long while buffing the entire party.

Well, Wrath was the start of the removal of RPG mechanics.

Because that’s how it was in vanilla.

Because if we didnt, how would the vendors feed their families? Afford health care?! Do we really need 40 loaves of bread, right now?! Of course not. But when that thicc dwarf girl goes home after we stock up for a 5 minute quest, she can give her dwarflette an extra basted boar rib and schedule a dental appointment without worry.

I’m not on board with #Nochanges but I do feel this would be a negative change to the game removing ammo and reagents. Long term i feel classic+ is the only way to keep the game healthy long term.
