Why Do We Keep Doing this?

Seriously though. We complain and complain, the game gets worse, and/or just shifts ever more into the arms of a more accepting audience willing to stomach the weak sauce the game is now (Yeah, I’m quoting that guy, lol). AND YET, I still buy each expansion. Is it for the group who doesn’t play anymore, for the chance of something good despite almost a decade of terribleness.

What keeps y’all playing? Especially those who don’t like where it’s been, why do you keep playing, that’s my question.

I haven’t bought the expansion. There’s 0 hype on my end (I don’t care for housing). I’ll wait until the end of S1 and maybe hop on to catch up. It’s TBC till then.

I’ve been playing on and off forever, the beginning of an xpack is always the best moments of this game, even in the bad ones. I usually play a couple months each season then leave to go do anything else really. Not sure how this is gonna go if they space out raid releases too much, I might just miss some raids, no way I keep playing for just that.

I play because I’m still having fun.

I’m glad someone is, I miss the days when it was fun for me.

Alternatives? FFXIV combat pacing is too slow for me, ESO is doing a total restructuring thats going to take 2 years to complete, 4 developing MMORPGs died in the last 6 months, another MMO is being taken offline in a year from now. Choices are limited.

The truth is, millions have joined and quit over time. So many have left, it’s actually kinda hard to visualise.

I still have fun from time to time, but the way I have fun has changed. I stopped raiding and playing every single day back in mop (mostly cuz life) and now I enjoy things like m+, random adventures with friends and crafting. Stuff that can be done in short bursts.

I have played on and off throughout the years, so I rarely get burnt out on the game.

The last time I took a break, I missed most of Legion, all of BFA and half of Shadowlands.

Because im enjoying myself. I dont play games when I dont enjoy them.

If wow hits a point that im not having fun, I stop. Simple.

Addiction mainly , also it’s a social outlet for me as much as a game tbh.

I get to talk to friends, also GD is fun, lot’s of really cool people here actually.

Oof!

You got to do Remix though right?

If the players had that give up attitude you seem to be championing then the players would have never flown past Mists of Pandaria.

Tbh no. I was playing a lot of alts on retail, so I had no time for remix.

And I remembered the time I tried to play MoP remix. I stopped at like level 7.

Not really my cup of tea.

Legion Remix was a completely different beast than mop.
Legion was much easier to get all the things and speed level alts. I know I spent maybe 3 days leveling all the classes to max lol. It was about an hour and a half to 2 hours per toon.

The game ebbs and flows. I find expansion releases to always ebb because it is about the only time that Blizzard really tries to balance things. Then they give up and settle on their metas for the expansion and it starts to flow again.

I like the stories, the combat, etc. With follower dungeons, delves and story mode raids the game is getting better.

I’m m having a great time. Took a small break towards the end of Season 2 TWW and been back and enjoying my time. I dunno, you should probably spend your time where you find enjoyment. A lot of ya’ll just commiserate (some to troll and rage) on here and just get in a miserable spiraling loop.

I like the game. There are very few videogame worlds that could compete with what Warcraft built over the years.
