I thought plate mitigated physical damage more or something.
Ret, yes. It’s in how it’s played.
Try prot and you’ll notice a huge difference. Armour type does matter but I’d still like to see more appearances shared across the classes.
Would be dumb to have a shaman wearing plate though. All that lightning and then they’d forget and stand in water.
Mages in plate would be dumb if that was allowed. Actually, it might make the game funnier but probably not in a good way.
If I don’t cast Ice Barrier, I take significantly more damage from physical threats than I would as a Plate wearer. Warriors and Rogues would tear me apart in moments.
Trust me, armor type matters.
I was gonna ask something similar. Do armor types make a difference?
I wish they did. I really wish this game could break away from PvP balance and give us truly unique classes and gear.
Swim I get.
But plate armor does not hinder you from running and jumping like you think. A full set of plate armor weighs about the same (or less) than a typical current combat load. And soldiers can do a lot with that weight on.
Because this isnt ESO or GW2.
Seriously, why do people want to make every game exactly the same?
Sure you can lumber along but we both know that someone in cloth or even leather armor will be faster and able to jump easier. After all armor like plate is not only heavy, it restricts your movement.
Up until Cata the armour type did dictate survivability.
In Classic to Wrath, cloth gear had the lowest amount of physical damage reduction and stamina, while plate had the most of each. So clothies were squishy with the least HP and plate wearers were tougher with the most HP.
But they normalized it going into Cata and only kept the physical damage reduction unique to the armour.
Yeah let them be a bit faster. Give them a 5% speed boost and the ability to swim easily or faster.
But this falsehood of plate being heavy and cumbersome is really old. And when you account for knights actually being trained for decades vs the typical gambeson wearing peasant, and the armored knight would actually perform way better.
Drops 5 sunders on a clothie and blows them up had entered the chat.
