Why do we even still have Race/Class restrictions?

Like Uncle Garrosh said…“Times Change”. This game is so far away from the original lore that there’s no reason to a believe any Race can’t master any Class. Maybe leave the two Hero Classes out of the discussion because they require a bit more getting into. Everything else though, I can make valid points for.

Worgen = Dog
Shaman = Dog
Worgen + Shaman = Dog

Pandaren = Bear
Druid = Bear
Pandaren + Druid = Bear

Sorry to blow your mind but it had to be done. Again, outside of the Hero Classes that I don’t feel like getting into, there’s no reason things are still so locked out. The hardest Race/Class combination to make a case for is Undead Paladins, and yet it’s still an easy case to make.

Are you really telling me that something as peaceful and nature loving as a Pandaren can’t befriend some Druids and learn their way?

The fact that Orcs get to be Shamans is proof that the current restrictions make no sense.

Shamans are like best friends with the Elements. They help each other out. That’s like the entire basis of the class…but it’s not always as it seems. You see, “Rock” means “Food” in Orc speak. Rocks are Elements. Orcs literally eat the Elements and yet they still get to be Shamans.

You’re telling me a Worgen can’t befriend a Rock?

It makes even more sense than I’d realized…

I have no problem with Orcs as Shamans. It’s Goblins as Shamans that break the system for me. Never has made any sense at all, imo.

Wait, I missed this…

We can only hope thats a new expansion feature in 10.0 I would make stuff like mechagnome shamans.

That’s so true lol. Like how can an Element get suckered into signing a legally binding contract? It genuinely doesn’t make any sense whatever.

I guess that’s the thing about Goblins though.
None of their history really makes sense. They started out as some idiot Race and got smart from eating Tide Pods.

Tauren Rogues would be too big and obvious. Need to be stealthy.

We beat the Legion. Give me an Eredar sub-race (all of them can’t be bad, just retcon that some of them noped out after a few centuries and ran away) and let me be a warlock and I may be compelled to spend money on a race change. Dat waggle…

for lore reasons. some races just never learned to be some classes.

Why can’t Panda’s be druids lmao. Just whyyyy.

Coming up with Druid forms and Shaman totems for every race would take up a lot of development time.

Probably literally the only reason.

Orc Paladins please. I would love nothing more to play a character that combines my favorite class and race.

Err, Orcs are the OG Shamans.

Your overall point still stands. Let me be an Forsaken Paladin dang it.

Yes, it’s time to open them all up. Classes are basically careers, it’s silly to claim that someone wouldn’t be able to pick up a different career simply because of their heritage.

Hrm… I guess there’s multiple takes on this. What you say is correct - it is true that in theory most races could befriend some master of most classes. There isn’t a technical reason why a goblin can’t be a monk.

At the same time some race/class restrictions can ‘add’ to a race I.E the reason lightforged Draenei are so restricted is due to their way of life for eons. So it depends on the way you see it.

Muh lore.

lmao.

Makes no sense.
If some of the first paladins were warriors that learned to wield the light, then there’s really no reason for any class to not be a priest or paladin since all can be warriors.
Definitely past time to open up class restrictions.

have you ever seen a smart orc? those brutes know nothing of the refined ways of the Light.

there’s a few undead paladins in the lore but zero orc paladins. There’s even some troll pseudo-paladins if you consider BFA…
