Why do warriors - who have a class fantasy based on not using magic - have Spear of Bastion

Especially when it’s very likely that new warriors will have never even set foot in the Shadowlands?

Is it too hard to just reskin the model into something that fits with the class fantasy instead of copy/paste? I really hope this rushjob isn’t indicative of the rest of Dragonflight

It should definitely be something like a hooked net a la roman gladiators

I think that’s a great idea and was expecting something similar, not just a literal copy/paste. I really liked the feel of just being a really tough dude who isn’t magic sensitive keeping up with everyone else in this crazy world by sheer force of will. I could kind of overlook it in Shadowlands because you were there after all, but what’s the reasoning behind it being given to any soldier in Azeroth?

it’s cause the devs are lazy af

it should be maybe like a spear with badass big chains hooking people to it
if it should have a glow effect at all it should be red/blood themed at least

Yeah that’s what I was hoping for. Something that’s “attempting” to be grounded in reality of Azeroth, but my warrior is a straight up magic user now =\

This is the case with all Dragonflight talents that were covenant specific from shadowlands. I agree it’s lazy, but it’s not just warriors. Look at demon hunters. They have elysian decree and the hunt, both of which still have the night fae and bastion spell effects. Makes no sense for a fel engulfed demon hunter, but it is what it is…

I mean it’s a weapon ability…
You throw a spear…

A sparkly blue Kyrian arcane afterlife spear.

As a class that’s basically just an angry person with a stick.

So this is where we are now? Complaining about Spear of Bastion

So lemmie get this straight OP…

1.) We can launch a meteor-sized fireball from the sky untop of a FIRE ELEMENTAL indoors and it still does boatloads of damage.

2.) A gnome the same heft as an overweight chihuahua can sling around two Texas-sized swords as if they were made of balsa wood and wet cardboard.

3.) We can stab a dragon the size of the Chrysler Building with a dagger as big as a toothpick and some how kill it.

4.) A Pandaren with Corgi-like legs and in full plate armor can easily outrun a Night Elf with a runner’s body and in full light leather.

Yet Warriors having ‘Spear of Bastion’ is what sets you off?

It doesn’t set me off, it’s just lame that it takes me out of the class fantasy. I liked being an angry guy with just a stick in a world full of magic. Yea there have always been little contrivances for gameplay purposes that aren’t 100% realistic, I’m not asking for realism, but it’s like they didn’t even try.

That argument of “just turn your bro off bro” is kind of weak, you could levy that against virtually every criticism in the game whether it be story related, gameplay related, or anything in between.

You aren’t casting magic incantations you are using an enchanted spear. Warriors have been using enchanted weapons throughout the entire lore of this game

Do they still have that magical absorption bubble?

I always wondered why they had that. I liked it and all, but having a forcefield that absorbs all damage feels more Paladin to me.

Please just have an intern spend a day or two and just remodel the damn thing. Make it a spear that shoots out tar, a net explosion, SOMETHING that’s more grungy and befitting the class and not all pretty-like

Saddly, it is.

Maybe some warriors do want a little flair and not to just ugga booga all over.

Should be able to have many different warrior fantasies, jumping up into the sky is pretty magical if you ask me.

Cut corners.

They explicitly stated in an interview that the little abilities granted to characters from SL would make sense to be carried forward despite no longer being in the Shadowlands most of the time much like how the abilities functioned outside of the Shadowlands during the expansion.

So yeah, those little boons can by all means continue to exist.

We didn’t drain ourselves from SL stuff like Artifact Weapons with the gigantic sword in Silithus.

This is the exact time to cut corners, sorry. If only they took that approach before demolishing original+iconic attack/spell animations/graphics. Not everything needs to be constantly redone or reworked.

The Hunt? I’d kind of like that to be Chaos or something instead… with a Chaos/Fel-themed graphic… so yeah, I can see this being weird on some.

Spear of Bastion? I liked it. Just me though.

Problem isn’t even spear of bastion but blizzard just being flat out lazy and not adjusting the former covenant abilities.

These lazy dudes and women already didn’t create any new spells this expansion, the least they could do is change these spells to look like they visually belong to the class casting them.

Blizzard changed mind games so it looks like a shadow spell

-The hunt should be fel energy.
-Spear of Bastion should be a regular physical spear with physical chains.
-Shaman primordial wave should be water not venthyr red

These are one of many examples which is annoying cause not even every spell needs to change. Slappy hands, NEW mind games, convoke and a few other spells look like they fit fine. The veil is cut…skybox isn’t shadowlands anymore and it hurts Class fantasy to have this crazy random spell that doesn’t match the rest of your class.

Can’t relate.
My race fantasy for warriors are spellbreakers.

I can have a little magic. As a treat.
I just wish we could change the colour of it, but glyphs are lacking for everybody.
