Do the dragonriding wq. You get 15 per quest x7 quests twice a week = 210 weekly. Plus you get over 7k gold from it as well. Not bad for about 15 minutes twice a week.
Because I feel the upgrade system was made to try and force people to do everything. To push casual players that mostly do world content into M+, and M+ players into wold content. At least at lower level content.
It seems the best way to get Flightstones is group content, to grind M+ and raid. But the best way to get crests at least Whelpling and Drake crests is to do world content.
I’m in the same boat, loads of Welp and Drake crests, even got a couple Wyrm crests from the Vault from doing LFR, but I’m starved for Flightstones. Got really lucky and got a Champion level bow on my main from a chest and it’s going to cost me 350 flightstones and a Wyrm crest to get it to the next level…
I also have more crests than flight stones. I imagine it’s difficult to balance a currency that can be acquired from many pieces of content and is both a gear progression patch and a catch up mechanic.
I wish crests could be exchanged for flightstones. The gold is paltry but as someone who banged all the 1 time quests while capped thinking the flightstones were more for super casuals, I much rather have the stones over a smidgen of gold
The whole new upgrade system is a joke from Blizzard. They took the simple valor system with IO requirements to upgrade levels, and turned into into a triple grind event for everyone. You have to grind content to get crests, grind content to get flightstones, and then you have to grind even more on top of RNG to get the next tier of gear.
It used to be that once you got a specific BIS item you just needed the valor and IO grind, which sort of came naturally as you progressed, now if you get a BIS item it’s most likely not in the highest Hero tier, so now you have to grind the higher content RNG in hopes to get that BIS item all over again.
Don’t let this fool you, this was all planned by Blizzard to force people into playing more.
It probably costs more flightstones because they are infinitely farmable, vs crests which have a weekly earnings cap.
I haven’t run into this problem myself really, I think I was short on flightstones once, but after doing a few world quests and dungeons, was stocked back up. Sorry yer having difficulty!
almost all i do is run mythics and i am always starved for flightstones. I am usually upgrading a piece every other dungeon. upgrades use 90-170 flightstones each. 2 mythic dungeons take 1hour+. They don’t drop at a rate fast enough at all.
Also remember that once you’ve upgraded a piece of gear to a certain ilvl, repeating that on a new item in the same slot has a discounted cost.
For example. You upgrade chest piece to 424. If you get a 2nd chest piece (say tier, better stats or can be upgraded above 424) - the cost to re-get to 424 is discounted by 60%.
I keep a good amount in inventory just by pugging the content I do on a weekly basis, but here’s a question specific to this week:
The mythic x4 weekly quest, do you get flightstones from M0’s? Seems an easy way to double dip your way to flightstones plus a 428 upgrade! If not, that would make sense, awarding flightstones in +2 and higher only, does anyone know?
Given we need 2 currency’s for upgrades flightstones should be increased too at least 100 per end dungeon boss and raids.Thats still 20 dungeon runs too reach the cap.Given it takes like 140 too go from 434 too 437 plus crests.
Everything about this patch is just more gating and time sink i love dungeons but flightstones farming is slow and the new zone is boring as heck.
Getting pretty tiring already needing so much currency too upgrade its slower than the valor system,
