Calling the Aspects “ Titan puppets “ and all, but dragons still have a choice to follow the Titan mandate or not. I didn’t see the other Aspects trying to force Kalec and the other blue dragons to stay when Kalec disbanded the flight and let the blues go about their own goals. Really there was no indication the Titans “forced” the dragons to accept their roles as Aspects until Dragonflight. Now we even have the retcon that Deathwing wasn’t corrupted by the Old Gods, he willingly accepted their power because he felt being the Earth Warder was a burden
Because, if I’m understanding the lore right, the Aspects wanted to bring ALL the Protodragons into the fold and about half the population said no. The fighting was less about being the Aspects and more about the choice to join. When they said no, force was applied, when they fought back, they were locked away to be forgotten.
Really the anti-Titan propaganda never honestly made much sense, for one thing the planet itself IS a Titan, second the ordering of the planet also helped bring some order to the elements themselves, otherwise they’d be wild and destructive and also enslaved to the Old gods. The planet the Primal Incarnates want to revert the world back to was one of unending WAR between the four elemental lords, it’s just like “Why would you want that??”
This is not how events actually took place, Alexstrasza even told Neltharian she’d rather deal with the uprising by diplomatic discussion, Raszageth however, struck the Forbidden Reach before any talks could be conducted.
The entirety of the Primalist’s ideology doesn’t really make much sense, their goal isn’t even presumably in their own best interest as it would just be going back to a war-torn/enslaved planet even for them.
The Protodrakes objected to Order Magic being shoved into the Dragon Isles’ Wellspring that the Protodragons drank out of.
Tyr incidentally put Order Magic there only to keep Yogg-Saron from tainting the Dragons any further after he already tainted Galakrond.
In otherwords Yogg-Saron is the reason the war against the Primalists even started!
The Old Gods managed to corrupt Neltharion anyways and got him to seal away Aberrus due to being unable to control the Dracthyr. Neltharion incidentally was a hothead before the Old Gods corrupted him which resulted in an overseer being fired from his job following a fire-breathing rant.
Raszageth’s assumptions of Titan tainting their wellspring failed to account for Yogg-Saron tainting it earlier.
The other Primal Incarnates were already on the Old Gods’ side and worked to corrupt the Djaradin Elders who had one of their members abducted by the Faceless Ones to fuel Aberrus with Shadowflame(the backstory of Shadowflame was changed in PTR from being created by Neltharion to being stolen from the Djaradin Elder) after Neltharion abandoned the facility following Raszageth’s first defeat.
After Raszageth’s second defeat the Primal Incarnates didn’t hesitate to grab the Djaradin and start finishing the experiments the Faceless sent by the Old Gods to Aberrus started with the Shadowflame(which resulted in the creation of Deathwing’s Elementium Armor) while also derailing the Faceless’s other scheme with the Witherdrakes by opening the way for us before they were ready for Void Infusion.
Raszageth was ignorant of the corruption tainting her 3 fellow Incarnates and of the taint infecting the Dragon Isles’ wellspring and alas died before she could learn of her brethren’s corruption and switch sides.
Needless to say Tyr made the mistake of keeping secrets from all the Dragons due to the decree Odyn made before vacating his post of hiding everything from Azeroth’s lifeforms.
The fact that the planet is a Titan IS the reason why the Elements are wild and destructive : the slumbering World Soul consumes all the Spirit, that’s what sent the Elementals into a frenzy.
Arguably, the presence of a World Soul may also be the reason why the Old Gods have taken interest in Azeroth at all lol
the titans suck
Nah Azeroth was just incredibly unlucky. Even without a world soul, the Old Gods touching down guaranteed infection. Worse is that without the world soul the Titans wouldn’t have gone through the effort of saving Azeroth.
Azeroth’s bad luck is just multilayered.
See I don’t get that because we never saw dragons forced to accept the Titans mandate. This wasn’t like the Mag’har questline that showed how fanatical the Lightbound were
Because its 2023 and warcraft is now mOrAlLy gReY. The Light is bad and the titans are tyrants. Ignore all that occured previously because a suddenly unreliable narrator is a cheat code and amesia syrum all in one!
Titans have been villainous since vanilla.
If you’re only just now realizing this, you haven’t been paying attention.
For years the Titans were assumed to be the eventual final bosses of WoW, until Chronicle anyway. Beings of such vast power that ordering a planet and making it anew was barely a thought for them.
Dragonflight seems to loop back to this, in a way that almost ignores the events of Legion and Chronicle and treats the Titans as this mysterious entity operating on a different morality scale. Which I tend to prefer, but it does shuffle off years of ‘new’ canon into the corner.
That being said, the rantings of yassified Twilight Cultists should probably be taken with a grain of salt.
Maybe that’s EXACTLY what they want. For all we know the Azeroth that’s an eternal Elemental battleground is their idea of Heaven,
Which the game gives zero explanation as to why. What did the Incarnates say to all these mortal races to get so many on their side? Some of their members wouldn’t even exist without the Titans and some are not even Azeroth natives.
That’s what I want to know. They are so hopped up on things being “Titan-stained” that they don’t realized the other “stain” that most of the races they recruited have. Nor the fact that the very planet is a Titan. What drives that fanatical group when the Incarnates themselves don’t care about the Primalists, calling them, to their faces, fodder.
Oooh so that’s why that npc before the last boss of hoi yells " fools do you not see what tyr has done?!" I always wondered what she meant.
Also titans use world souls to conceive new titans right ?
kill all titans.
They don’t “use” world souls to make new Titans. That’s just a part of the Titan life cycle. A world soul is a Titan, just incubating until they emerge.
They are tho.
This is not unlike the shadowlands being upset that they exist to keep a perpetual machine of order in motion, the machine of death.
The dragons are acting out their inherent roles essentially. Even the ones that deviate still derive their power from the forces that tasked the aspects with their earthly duties. The dragons largely do adhere to the writ of the titans whether they like it or not. Flight solidarity ultimately means following your aspect/leader who ultimately upholds the titans will for azeroth.
Corrupting them is actually a genius move. The titans left the keepers behind and the keepers left the dragons behind. Its like the responsibility for the eternal preservation of the world soul has only perpetually shifted responsibilities among the titan’s creations.
For starters, this was Deathwing’s stated reason back in Cata. It’s not new news. Secondly, that’s how Old God corruption works. They convince you to do things that superficially seem to be for your benefit, wearing you down until you acquiesce.
Indeed. Even when accepting their power he remained somewhat sane until he decided to wear Elementium Armor forged from Shadowflame.
Said Armor was invented in Aberrus by the Faceless Ones using the Shadowflame(which was taken from the Djaradin Elder captured by the Faceless Ones that took over Aberrus when Neltharion abandoned it). Their most recent Prototype was hammered onto Deathwing driving him completely insane to the point where he was just another Fyrakk.
Fyrakk has the convenience of already having the almost feral mind so he had nothing to worry about unlike Deathwing. Can’t go completely insane if you are already there after all!
The last Djaradin Elder is going to create the completed version of Deathwing’s Armor that was depicted on the walls of Aberrus. Who it’s for is unknown as all Black Dragon Candidates were rejected due to their Morals.
Deathwing in service to the Old Gods was sane just as Garrosh, Azshara and Xavius were sane.
