Tauren paladins do make sense, they literally worship the sun.
I’m genuinely surprised you’re not an MHP.
I can understand the Tauren ones - the pallies I have issues with are Z Trolls. Which Loa would cover that?
Rezan, now voljin
Agreed, Vulpera will take their place as sun worshippers and Paladins.
They did it specifically to annoy you and you alone.
Tauren Paladins were definitely a stretch but I was willing to accept “Sunwalkers”.
Troll Paladins is like… no. Just no. “Well they can be Priest”. Yeah, Voodoo Hexxer Shadow Priests canonically, not Priests of the Holy Light. Troll Paladins is just so stupid, I hate it. I saw one of these and I just thought that I’m glad I don’t play Horde so I don’t have to interact with this nonsense on a regular basis.
I think the day Blizzard completely lifts class/race restrictions I will probably slowly drift from the game. I’m not saying this is the make-or-break issue but the world stops being a world and starts being simply a video game you interact with, which is significantly easier to leave behind, when you tear away the immersive elements that make it believable onto itself (consistency). Troll Paladins shouldn’t exist period.
Light followers gain their powers through belief. If they revere something that is viewed as a source of Light then the greater cosmic power will answer them either way.
Night elves get it from Elune, Zandalari from Rezan, blood elves the Sunwell. Other races just have faith in the Light itself. Tauren do the sun, An’she, one of their own deities, which is quite literally the Light of the world. The belief is more than enough to gain it.
It doesn’t go against tauren lore, it’s just a new development in it.
There is absolutely literally nothing wrong with zandalari paladins.
It all got started with Draenei Paladin.
Before Draenei Paladin, Paladins were worshiping an intangible deity for their power. After Draenei, the deity became more mortal and tangible.
Then Blizzard logic came into play. If Draenei worships light crystals how come cows that worship the sun can’t do the same thing?
Rezan.
Their followers of An’she the tauren sun. An’she follows the same naming pattern as Naaru FYI.
The thing is Tauren don’t follow the Church of the Holy Light like the humans. There’s not really a whole eclesiastical hierarchy. They worship the sun, which happens to manifest as the light.
Tauren society won’t change to follow the light. Tauren paladins change the light to fit tauren society. If that makes any sense.
Like… there wouldn’t be a Tauren Scarlet Crusade, because they would violate their ideals.
Sunwalker.
No brother!!, we shall not graze upon the sun’s bounty for our bellies be foul of copious quanties of the sin Vitamin D.
For those bellies are full of Vitamin D, so shall they be cast into the slaughterhouse!!.
Oh and it’s worth mentioning.
In the Ashbringer graphic novels they meet a troll who crashed in the Scarlet Monastery and taught himself the Holy Light’s ways and the Ashbringer basically let him go instead of murdering him the aftermath of the third war.
So… if the only requirement is to “Read the light stuff” you might find laying around in any church then I guess it should be open to anyone.
Gnome paladins. Make it happen, blizz. Chop chop.
You don’t seem to understand my argument. Like, I’m pretty sure you pop into these threads and say the same thing and you’re not getting it. I do not care what the new writers say. Got it? I perfectly well understand what BS retcon they’ve come up with, but I simply reject it. It’s that simple. I don’t care for Zack Synder’s killer Batman or killer Superman, and I don’t care for this new set of writers nonsense interpretation of what a Paladin is. I full well get what they claim to be the foundation of, and I’m simply saying it is wrong and shouldn’t be the way it is. Batman shouldn’t be a killer, and Troll Paladins shouldn’t exist.
Do you understand now?
This isn’t like Christianity though. Scriptures and rules mean absolutely nothing to the Light, that’s a cultural thing. It’s just a cosmic sea of magic power. Every culture in the universe would view it differently and twist it to their own society’s views.
If you ask the tauren they’ll tell you they aren’t revering the actual Light, they’re gaining their power from An’she. Who’s long been seen as one of their gods, an eye of the Earthmother. A couple tauren in Cataclysm just had idea that more could be gained from that and they hadn’t fully explored that side of things.
The Light’s all about perception and faith, it’s not a technical-based magic like arcane or fel. If you truly believe in it as a form of light, doesn’t matter what it is, then the actual Light will answer. They haven’t converted religions at all, just a couple organizations sprouted up that found an alternate path of progression in their lore.
It’s what the lore says, which is the canon. It isn’t retcons. It isn’t stretching anything. These concepts have existed since the beginning.
It is when the established beliefs and ruling systems of Paladins were put into place by Human Paladins.
Vanilla only had Human Paladins and all rules were made by them. It wasn’t until the massive retcon of Draenei did those rules become twisted.
It is why Dwarf paladins are very similar to Human paladins.
