Why do some folks refuse to do mechanics in mythic plus?

you need two brain cells to rub together to know mechanics unfortunately. they’re not in high supply in pug players

Usually I think it’s because people don’t know them, and given how some people are prone to react they don’t ask. Underrot in particular is pretty rough with mechanics because if you don’t know how to do the second, third or fourth boss your chances of wiping and failing the key go up significantly.

People already have a habit of leaving a key on the event of a singular wipe, so I kinda understand their reluctance to say anything because I wouldn’t be shocked to see a removal from the party being their sole reward.

If it were my key I’d verify with everyone that they know how to do the fights before starting the key. Just as much as it’s on everyone to do mechanics, it’s on you to make sure that people, intentionally or otherwise, aren’t going to nuke your key.

The result of failing upwards. Why should they need to do so much more than normal on a given key just because of this particular group? Better to find a new group, so you can tunnel.

Not going to bait puddle on first boss of Freehold. Deal with it.

Cuz I’m a DK

I can just ams/DA basically everything

A lot of people who play WoW are basically bots.

healer problem :sunglasses:

Why do people like you refuse to see the vast majority of this is due to carry services? That practice needs to end it is hands down the biggest contributor to toxic groups.

I believe there is a quote in a Captain Grim video that explains it:

“I have nothing going for me except having good DPS in a video game. And I need to prove it!

Because people who stick to low keys, where this behaviour happens but not in high keys, either do it for one of two reasons:

  1. They are playing on an alt and knows whether a mechanic is dangerous or not, and if it is, then folks do it and if it ain’t, why bother doing something which would be a detriment towards the group?
This part is partially a psychological aspect as it has to do with understanding the group you are in more so than the mechanic itself
  2. Those who aren’t playing on alts however … are stuck in low keys because they are too arrogant in their own lack of ability to perform that they are just stuck and can’t get anywhere - typically these are toxic players who leave group and act horrendous towards others and are a minisclue minority, but they are all basically stuck in one place so you see more of 'em in low keys than anywhere else

There’s a thing called the "Dunning Kruger effect:

So… basically, aim to do higher keys and learn how to do it and you’ll naturally just leave these people behind as they cannot escape this until they escape thier own stupidty

But then there’s also toxic people but that’s an even smaller minisclue number of players that elects to not do mechanics and/or other stuff akin to that
So… yah’
Just get into the habit of pushing keys and you’ll naturally push out and away from a lot of toxic people, whether by choice, stupidity, or lack of ability combined with ignorance

I am a warrior meaning I am challenged so I don’t do mechs I only do one thing and thats kill

I really respect honesty, and will never go after someone for being honest about their experience, unless they signed up for like, a 20 or something without knowing any mechanics. When I run keys I definitely establish that if someone tells me they need help with mechanics I will not kick them because it helps us in the end.

Why are you assuming people are refusing to do mechanics when they most likely just have no idea how anything works?

Asking how to do something is a quick way to get removed from the group.

DPS is the least important mechanic. You do zero dps if you are dead.

If you don 't know them there are several solutions look up a guide written or youtube. Run the dungeon on lower difficulty and pay attention to mechanics (don’t run 11+ if you don’t know mechanics)

Personally 'd be willing to explain it though if you don’t know by a 16 I’ll def kick you. There is no excuse for that. Still they don’t know if someone is willing to explain it. But they shouldn’t be in that position anyways. If they want a learning experience they can make one specifically for that as well.

Yeah I ask for mechanics in an 11 or higher.

it really depends on context.

“does the second boss have a frontal? i forget” before the key starts in an 11 is fine.

“wtf keeps killing me i think it’s bugged” after you’ve died six times to the same avoidable mechanic in a 21 is not.

I mean this is true, but it goes deeper. They are also scared of NOT being high on the damage meter. The abuse that players who don’t perform at high level endure is abysmal…

I know that Pandora’s Box has been opened and we’ll never be rid of damage meters, but my hot take is that I’d love to see a WoW with no add-ons whatsoever. A WoW that has its encounters balanced around that fact.

nobody is yelling at the guy doing 110k overall because he sims at 130k and isn’t performing at a high enough level.

the people getting “abuse”, if you want to use the term, are the ones who are 440 ilvl doing 40k overall in +18s.

Every once in a while I discover “Oh, you mean I couldn’t live through that? Dang.”

Sort of like how DH mains try to double-jump on every other class, I forget that Cloak of Shadows and Evasion are broken, and not every other class’ defensive does what CoS does.

And a lot of times, I will admit, it’s because I was convinced a specific attack was physical/magical when in fact it was the opposite.

I’ve never experienced this. If the boss is going down in a reasonable time that’s all that matters. You could do 200k dps but we wipe or 50k dps and we kill the boss and I’d take the later every time.

FFXIV is that WoW.

In FFXIV all add ons are officially banned. And yet almost all end game raiders use them anyways.

They better be a healer, tank, or augmentation evoker.
