I was looking on Murlok IO copying down some talents to get me started and I’ve noticed a lot of the players I was copying from have only one weapon which is a two-handed sword which is weird.
You need extra enchant and a dedicated talent for dual wield. That can push many away.
What’s that talent called? and what’s the enchant called?
I think Frost is technically supposed to be dual wield, but there’s nothing directly preventing a DK from just using a two hander if they want to. That’s what I do on mine, but I just use Frost for solo questing, and I’m too lazy to round up a couple one handers (but not so lazy I won’t go re-Rune the same dang weapon every time I swap specs, apparently).
Wait I’m dumb, enchant has nothing to do with that because runeforging. I’m still looking for the talent, maybe that changed…
yeah, I tried looking too but I gave up.
I’m finishing this transmog run and I’m looking on my dk.
So Breath of Sindragosa build you want to focus on using two one-handers, and for Obliteration, 2H is usually the way to go (there has been a 1H obliteration before but 2H is on top).
These two talents heavily change the way Frost is played where Obliteration focuses on maximizing your Pillar of Frost windows, whereas Breath of Sindragosa is all about that one 2 minute cooldown. A lot of people are opting for 2H obliteration rn because if you are forced to move off of a boss during breath, you are out of your main source of damage for 2 minutes.
2H Obliteration is also just more fun imo.
Might of the Frozen Wastes is your talent which makes 2H viable
I don’t see that in the talent tree.
What I think supported the dual-wield-Frost-DK design is the number of talents in the Frost-based areas of the DK talent trees that refer to auto-attacks. Presumably these effects want you to use faster one-handed weapons instead of slow two-handers to get the most benefit.
But, again, they still technically work with two-handers, just less often.
Yeah, was just about to edit. Used to be a talent, is now baseline as of 10.0.7
So, I can use a two-hander and be fine?
yep! I use a 2-hander for all content rn and usually top damage meters in +20s/Heroic raid
What runes do you use? For runeforging?
Frost DK has the option to either DW 1Hs or use a single 2H. Currently there are 3 viable builds:
DW Breath
2H Obliteration
DW Obliteration (currently slightly behind 2H, but still viable unless you’re pushing high keys or possibly Mythic raiding)

this is the build im using
If you mean runeforge, your 2H should always have Fallen Crusader.
If doing dual-wield, you want Fallen Crusader Main-hand and Hysteria or Razorice on Off-hand depending on your build
2h sword is sexier than using 1hs.
also special 2h strength weapons are more common than special 1h str weapons, such as ashkandur.
Yeah, you want fallen crusader if you are using a 2-hander
Alright thank yoU!
