Why do so many people not group for quests?

I’m legitimately not understanding this mentality. I might get 1 out of 5 people to actually take a group invite when we’re on the same quest. Most of the time they decline or ignore that invite and continue killing the mobs that literally could be giving us both credit, instead now we have to try and steal each others mobs.

This wouldn’t bother me so much if the bonus exp in SoM wasn’t ONLY from quest turn-ins…

I swear the WoW community is one of the most toxic communities out of all MMORPGs, I honestly expected better from SoM players.

You only need to group for elites or named NPC’s. I think that’s why most players decline your request.

Right click and report for cheating, if you think they are botting.

Your friends see them too?

I understand you only NEED to group for elites, but it makes questing so much faster when you need to kill 10 mobs and another person on the same quest groups up and you can knock it out super quick.

Most of the people I see questing don’t really act like bots.

I have the exact opposite experience when inviting people to groups. People readily accept and we have a good time. I’m on PvP barman shanker. What server are you on?

If it’s PvE, it wouldn’t surprise me if you got declined more often. A lot of the grouping in PvP realms is for safety in numbers. In PvE, you can just solo everything if you don’t mind it taking more time.

I’m on Shadowstrike the PvE server. Maybe you’re right about the safety in numbers logic. Still frustrating to have to fight for mobs when they could just group up with me and we complete the quest in half the time.

I generally don’t group for most quests. I am on Shadowstrike and am doing Soul of Iron. I will group up for elites or unique mobs. But mobs you can easily grind on your own, I don’t group. I’m going for no deaths and frankly I don’t trust most players to be cautious.

You trollin’?

The bonus XP is ONLY from quests.

That’s what he said, Glinda!

Most of this–at least on my server–is players using the hardcore app. It has rules that prohibit them from grouping with anyone for help with quests.

I think it’s annoying and stupid, but tons and tons of them are doing it that way. If the person you see has an “HC” guild tag or “HC” in the toon name, assume they will not group with you.

When it’s time to kill the Messenger…you will come to intimately understand why a level 60 Alliance player might lead a dragon to his own capital city to kill lowbies in Stormwind.

Try asking before inviting.

Or at least respond when the other person speaks to you.

I run into both ends of the spectrum. On one hand - I find plenty of people that just refuse to acknowledge others, and play - what appears to be - tunnel visioning their own objectives and don’t take a second to socialize with anyone in the vicinity.

On the other end, I do run into people that will respond when I ask if they would like to group for the quest. I think one thing I do find somewhat irritating are the people that will join a group, kill their 10 mobs and leave party, all with zero interaction. I get people want to get stuff done and move on, but the socializing aspect of this game has dwindled to just

“inv”
“ty”
leave group

could be a lot of reasons already grouped or maybe they are just grinding in the area or they are just antisocial at the moment. Just because they are there does not equal they are doing the same quest or a quest at all.

Could be for various reasons.

If they are doing the hardcore challenge, then grouping is not allowed.

Even if they are not, some people just like to challenge themselves, and are not in any rush to end game or max level.

Personally I do all content myself except when its elite quest, then I ask to look for groups. Sure I could group up for normal quest too and speed up the process, but I’m just going at my own pace which personally I’m finding more relaxing.

Though there are many people that like to do questing in groups - so just type in trade or general chat and I’m sure you find another soul to quest with.

Out of curiosity, do you call out the assumed bot in zone general chat? Have a friend that plays on Vendorstrike and they were pretty annoyed by that happening over and over. Once they tried to talk to the player being accused and discovered they are a limited English speaker and weren’t sure what was being said so they were just not replying.

Don’t be that guy hounding people in chat then telling others to report them as well. Just report and move on with your gaming.

Honestly I think its just people not having good social skills, English isn’t their native language or bots being bots.

Social interaction is out there but you need to be the one to find it

You are getting declined when it’s a drop quest. If it’s a “kill x mobs” quest, they will accept. This makes complete sense.
