Why do PVErs not like PVPing?

you know this is a video game, right?

I don’t want ketchup on my video game either!

or were you referring to my earlier posting about the mentality?

Lack of consideration of our fellow players is just as much of a problem as is our discourse without civility on forums. If you have no consideration when there is limited accountability online, why would I think you wouldn’t exhibit the same lack of consideration when there is lack of accountability in RL?

That said its all a matter of degrees

Honestly, in my case, because I’m old and mash buttons. The young’uns just run around me, leaving me whiffing at the air.

It’s bad enough fighting mobs. Yes, they’ll jump around, but I only have to turn around or charge to keep fighting. Can’t keep fighting if they jump around every half second.

I was referring to GEAR. IE where you could get GEAR from engaging in PvP. Because right now you still have to do PvE for the bulk of your gear, even if you’re in warmode.

You can get full sets of gear from PVP assaults in war mode and other world PVP, at least in balanced shards.

Dont have to try again. Been here just as long. PvP as a structured activity for WoW was an after thought, simple as that.

ok this was mentioned like days ago but re: the thin skin thing
whether or not insults hurt you doesn’t change the fact that they’re just exhausting to deal with. playing with toxic people takes too much mental energy, especially when those people are supposed to be the ones you’re collaborating with to take down the other side.
tbh, i think a lot of PVP could potentially be more entertaining if battlegrounds focus more on their core “gimmick” mechanics, because at least then it’d be less about power and more about skill.

I’m more than happy to help anyone that wants to learn how to PvP. I’m passionate about it and love helping people learn that aspect of the game.

That being said PvP is OBJECTIVELY more difficult than PvE. There is zero arguing this because pvp is inherently dynamic, while pve is static. PvE has no variance what so ever; things happen at the exact same time every time. Fights like mythic Hivemind, Drest
LITERALLY the exact same things happen at the exact same times every time. You watch a video, pull it 5 times and thats pretty much it. There are INFINITELY more people clearing mythic nyaloth than there are pushing rank 1 on the ladder. It’s not even close.

I’m not trying to discourage people for enjoying what they want
but the harsh reality (really NOT trying to be a dick here) is that people don’t pvp because they don’t like feeling like they’re bad at the game.

Playing arena consistently at a high level breeds an awareness that the vast majority of people can’t cultivate pveing. It is a fact that it’s easier to transition PvPers into PvE than the other way around.

This is all i’m saying.

It isn’t static because the strategies change every expansion pack.

All I see is more regurgitated fantasy about ‘the other side’.

I was asked to post this here  I’m a multi glad 2900 xp rogue, iv noticed it’s hard for new/less xp people to find ques so for the past 3 weeks iv been doing games with viewers on my stremm. No rage no put downs, just learning 0 cr 0 gear, doesn’t matter to me. /semideafx on ttv. <3 hope we get more ppl queuing arenas!

If I wanted to play a game about Red vs Blue I’d go play TF2. Which is a ton of fun, and has spent about 15 years trying to be as balanced as possible.

WoW pvp is a minigame, that’s about as skill focused as Mario Party. It has never been interesting to me.

I used to enjoy pvp back in Wrath and Cata. I don’t enjoy pvp for multiple reasons now.

  1. I’m not the same person anymore and developed different tastes.
  2. I don’t enjoy the unpredictability of pvp
  3. I can’t react fast enough anymore. I started playing wow when I was 24 (Burning Crusade). I’m 37 now.
  4. I don’t like getting ganged up on and stun locked to death.
  5. Respawn timers. They are annoying and take me out of the heat of the moment.
  6. World pvp (death in general) increasing respawn timers up to FIVE MINUTES is just stupid and completely disengaging. in world pvp I want to get back in to the action as quickly as possible.
  7. “Versatility” is just Resilience and PVP Power rolled in to one stat. I will admit it helps somewhat in pve as well.
  8. I miss Recuperate
  9. Death From Above was moved to a PVP talent. This really ticked me off.
  10. Ability pruning. I miss being able to use Disarm, Sunder Armor and Gouge
    That’s pretty much it

what does that have to do with pvp?

I used to enjoy pvp, but blizz has since screwed it inside out until it is now less than a mini-game.

  1. Trash tier class design and class mechanics.

  2. Garbage systems that incentivizes forever farming and screws over the pvp gameplay (looking at you, corruption).

  3. Gear system (or lack thereof) and player stat mechanics that deter players from wanting to pvp to get gear in the first place.

  4. Raids giving easier-to-obtain gear that is also far better than any geae you will ever get through pvp, unless you’re some rank1 player.

  5. Dwindling arena playerbase, due to above aforementioned points.

I have said this before and I’ll say it again: PvP was not a minigame. It became a minigame when blizz “reworked” everything in Legion, making sweeping system changes that royally screwed over pvp.

PvP is PvP sherlock.

I find that most of the Retail PvPers I have run across are kinda jerks. Only classic pvp players, in my opinion are worse. I just keep clear of them and let them enjoy their warmode/pvp servers.

Also, why is it that it seems like PvP players in WoW are masochists? I rarely hear about PvP being in a good spot.

While a lot of mechanics that effect dungeons and raids are consistently complained about, the dungeons and raids themselves commonly draw praise while they are current. The awakened seasonal affix is absolutely loved.

I think what he’s saying is once a boss is solved, its solved. Thats why guilds can wipe a bunch one week but after they get it down once or twice the wipes go down tremendously. I don’t necessarily agree that PvP is objectively harder than ALL PvE(I think world first/early mythic kills are very high skill cap akin to AWC).

I think PvP is always as hard, you don’t go on “farm” like mythic raids do.

Wouldn’t lesser skilled players than a pvper be considered ‘on farm’?
