today I did my first bg as a horde to see if I could win in this faction …
And guess what …
I saw an alarming number of ungeared players …
And I was wondering… “what they hope to achieve here?”
Obviously they were oneshoted by “Touch of the Dead” causing an alliance player to have 50 top kills …
Can someone explain this attitude to me?
Even i have some issues to survive a single bg! and i am 47… 120 ilvl!
They probably are under the mistaken impression that they will be somewhat competitive like most other games and also under the mistaken impression that they can get relevant gear from PvP.
Unfortunately they don’t understand the "you must PvE to PvP " mentality of the current development team.
This situation would be easy to fix and they had a system that worked well in WoD.
Which tells us they have no intention of fixing it and don’t really care about making the PvP experience better for players that choose to play PvP.
A better question is
“Why are gear gaps so gigantic between the have and have nots, with no way to catch up in a prepatch?”
This here, throughout most of wows lifespan you would get pvp gear, by pvping. They ruined it getting rid of pvp gear and making mythic gear the thing in pvp.
Maybe the pre-patch event gear somehow fix that issues, because this is driving me mad!

Nah, you will still have azerites and essences. You wont get some level of balance there till sl. As the expac goes on that gap will widen greatly again, unless they add pvp gear back, which I’m not sure if they have.
The game is being designed entirely around raid sales at this point.

I mean this is arguably the worst time in an expansion to pvp.
Players who have been playing consistently are at the highest possible ilvl while you have a huge amount of under geared players returning due to the pre patch. On top of all that they’ve removed pvp scaling so gear actually matters.
Luckily the expansion will reset all of this so it’s just a waiting game.
Sounds like without the “alarming” numbers of ungeared players, you wouldn’t have even had a match. Don’t worry though, it wont take very long until those players give up on the Shadowlands version of pvp and you’ll have the battlegrounds all to yourself.

Why we have all this borrowed power? it’s because the artifact weapons?
We NEVER need something like this before!

“unity makes the streng” doesn’t work in BG if you are ungeared!
People think legion artifacts are to blame, but it really traces back to the talent culling they did. As that’s why they did artifacts to begin with. They keep trying to make up for the serious lack of a talent tree.
To get gear or exp - what else is BG good for other than that really
trying to get the weapon my self since i have not found 1 weapon in bfa that is better than my legion artifact at ilvl 80 so that 95 weapon is looking good right about now
They try to have fun in pvp, but as the game stands qith those huge gaps between player is not possible.
At level 49 the pvp is the best
well, the fun pvp is the world pvp… but no one does world pvp anymore…
I got a new player to try pvp, to him was more intuitive to have to gese himself out of pvp and then pvp.
He saw the pvp as a kind of test to the gear he got. He is a rogue, and i was one too, we won like 4 bgs consecutivly.
Was fun, he was like ilevel 80 and i 105
Not realy world pvp was a slug fest, en classic.
In retail, when completting overwhelming odds ir resumes to who brings more friends and over run the other group, it is not a fun expereicie zerging, you dont enjoy the actual mechanics of pvp
There should be pre-patch ungeared PvP leagues, folks just running around naked bludgeoning each other with foam swords.
