the upside is very very very very very very minimal (only DHs? and people STILL do it when there’s no DHs in group).
also a 10s countdown to another 10s countdown to a 30s boatride to a 10s run up to the first actual trash pack in court of stars is just silly.
If you need time, it’s kinda preferrable to have a last-chance 10 seconds heads up during which someone can say “Wait” so that you don’t actually insert the keystone and then find out someone isn’t ready.

Not doing it just feels wrong for some reason. Only time I feel okay putting the key in without a CD is if I’m playing with friends with VC.
Once the key goes in, it’s game on, even if you get a second countdown. There’s no turning back. There have plenty of situations where someone forgot a talent or w/e during the first countdown.
It’s not just dhs, balance also can do it.
Guardian druids also. I like to have the extra incarn time so I can span thrash for uber damage/threat on a few dungeons.
Even on discord with all 5 members I do a countdown. As mentioned above, very often someone calls for the stop because they forgot to repair/change talents/eat ect and the timer kind of serves as a wake up call. Sometimes I’ll send the timer if someone doesn’t answer the ready check just to give them a non verbal “let’s go!” In PUGS historically if someone just full sends the key without a ready check or timer it’s usually a very bad sign although I LOL every time especially if a DH gets tilted! Who doesn’t love that??

You’d better believe I’m letting rip a “MY METAAAA” in party if a pug throws in the key without a RC/CD.
This. It’s saved a lot of heartache from people forgetting things, or needing to take care of one last thing. Or, “wait this is gonna be a long key, let me pee rq”, and then the whole group does that or grabs a drink. Maybe forgot to slot a talent, or get a buff, etc.
It’s not required, but at this point it’s an etiquette thing for min/maxing.
I think unholy dk might still be able to use army or something too.
I like doing it because it builds some anticipation and everyone knows exactly when its going to happen.
Only court it doesn’t matter. It’s huge for bdk. You can also prepot prolonged power. If I don’t get a timer on my bdk after asking I would be really pissed.
What does bdk have to use before the key starts?
Use abom limb. Full boneshield stacks for first 30 seconds. Allows me more time to group mobs before popping drw.
Ah hadn’t thought of that, what is the max time of cooldown that will reset? Would think you could use drw too.
2minutes is max. No reason to use drw tbh. Sin E you need a target and puts you in combat.
True, empower rune weapon maybe though for some rp and maybe ghoul.
Runeweapon sure. Ghoul just despawns as all pets do. Don’t need to overthink it. It’s minor but helps alot.
