Why do people say healing is feminine?

It’s more like DPS are tradies, on the front line doing the dirty work. Healers are more like office workers, higher education, and watch the tradies do work while supporting them through payments. Tanks are like the contractors, no one likes them, they aren’t reliable, but they try to lead others on how to get the job done.

Because most women work in healthcare. My wife is a nurse, 99/100 there are women. Very few men go into healthcare.

Who breastfeeds babies? Women
Who nurtured babies? Women

It’s nature.

Not sure this is accurate on how most people think in 2020?

Good healers, dps and support can come from all walks of life.

Edit: unfortunately, it appears some people are still narrow, in 2020. I didnt know so many people were hack sociologists running the 1989 playbook on stereotypes.

I like healing, tanking & dps. I guess I am gender-fluid, lol.

On a serious note, only fools & lemmings care what other people think about them.

Most people, then.

Doctors yeah. But hospital staff and nurses, almost exclusively women.

Evolution works that way. Weak men or women who don’t nurture do not propagate, because evolutionary useless. Not every trait survives nature’s natural organic design. Strong men and nurturing women do well, as nature needs them.

Yep, pretty much.

I would say that weak men are the ones too afraid/insecure to be nurturing, and instead confine themselves to a tired caveman stereotype.

Yep, and most engineers and construction workers are men, because most women don’t want to do those jobs. Men and women are on average interested in different things.

But when stating facts like this, it’s important to note that it’s only true on average, else some people will get triggered. There are certainly exceptions.

Yes much agreed. Pastors in churches are generally nurturing types these days. Pediatricians. But yeah not common.

Most Women don’t date weak or poor men because it means hard life for offsprings, so evolution filters society on its own and makes people grow up to challenge of survival.

I studied evolution in college, it was a fun subject. That was before crazy people took control of American media. So it was more honest back in the day.

male main healer here.

most females that I see/hear play this game are healers though.

This may be better worded as “Women are over-represented in healthcare.”

I suppose I’m not completely surprised that the Original Post in this thread was flagged, as personal biases and opinions may not be shared by everyone, and some may find that offensive.

In any case, it seems that on average, men and women are mostly the same with regards to preferences, however at the extremes, there are more pronounced differences.

There seems to be very controversial discussion among some groups as to whether observable and measurable differences in behavior between men and women are due to biology/genetics/etc. or societal conditioning.

Healing and tanking are the selfless options, you modify your playstyle for the needs of the group. It has nothing to do with gender.

I laughed when I read that… Like some of the most important positions in the healthcare field of healing aren’t male dominated, like Doctors, Surgeons, and more. But this is a WoW forum, so I guess you need to really relax your expectations when reading stuff here…

On average, women have more empathy than men. So it’s normal for them to be attracted to more support roles than men. But note again, this is comparing averages. Extremes exist on both ends.

Me? I’m a guy playing a female healer. Hated healing back in Vanilla. Now I rather enjoy it as it is normally more relaxing unless the group are the really go go go types who think that mixing amphetamines and gaming is a good idea. Tanking is my second favorite thing. DPS classes feel kinda boring to me. I like roles with a good deal of responsibility.

In my opinion, tanking is suitable for those who are self-motivated, like to lead, and control the direction and flow of what is happening. This is not selfless.

Why? So some weakling at a keyboard playing a warrior can feel better about himself.

i feel there is a disconection betwen your title and your post…

Evolution. That’s the answer, everyone knew this answer long ago.

Most people don’t understand what evolution means. It means what is not needed, doesn’t survive. Nature doesn’t play games.

Society is very successful today, so everything survives. And it might not be good, because consequences of that can be dangerous when evolution catches up. And it will catch up.
