I’ll never understand this. As a BM Hunter my best pet is a Tenacity Spirit Beast for its defensives so naturally I wouldn’t have Bloodlust unless I changed my pet’s spec (something I only just learned you could do the morning I’m posting this) but then my pet isn’t a Tenacity Spirit Beast anymore, right?
I see every day in high end game content that Mages, Shamans, and Evokers simply do. not. use. lust. Instead I’m the one that gets practically screamed, cussed at, sometimes just straight up harassed to switch my pet in the middle of a boss fight, summon a whole new pet, hit a button that those 3 classes have naturally built in to their arsenal, then switch pets again which obviously costs me too much DPS.
Doing all of that gives the other two DPS (One of which would be a Shaman, Mage, or Evoker given the circumstances) around a 6-10s DPS headstart. A 6-10s headstart that more often than not takes place usually within their burst window. If I am able to do all of the aforementioned and still hold the top DPS at the end of a pull then what am I supposed to make of those other two DPS?
Idk this is just something that’s really been grinding my gears lately. If anyone has some better insight on this I would greatly appreciate it.
Same reason shaman have had Skyfury for over a year now and still continue to not regularly buff/rebuff it. Some people are just lazy.

Because I’m playing a CLASS.
Not an ability.
Cry harder.
I know you’ve been in raids / mythic plus when someone lusts at the wrong time and the toxic players are like “ lol who lusted “
I’m going to assume that’s the reason people don’t lust and instead say “call for lust” before the run starts.

Because there are a good number of puggers out there that don’t care and are just there for a carry with little effort. They just want their crests/vault with minimal effort. If blizz changed vault slots to timing runs, people would put in more effort.

Because usually in raid it’s someone else’s responsibility.

Because they don’t usually play that class and forget to use it. I play many alts so you can forget

What do you consider high end content?
Sometimes it happens I miss pressing my lust keybound ability because of intense focus and tunnel vision as a healer. After a time it does become muscle memory to press lust when I know the fights, although the times I miss sending out lust are when the party leader or tank calls for it out of the norm and in party chat no less. Easy enough for a hang back dps to lust.

Yep, dps are assigned lust in my guild during raid including m+ runs.

I imagine many see it as S.E.P (somebody else’s problem) or, they don’t know the best time to cast Lust so don’t cast it for fear of upsetting the Raid.

I’m going to second these two, especially the first one.

There are a few reasons really.
Sometimes you just forget since it’s a a 10 minute cooldown you’re not exactly pressing it often. Tank pulls and you just default to rotation/avoid swirly mode and just forget.
They might not run a WA to track it and since pressing it starts a 5min CD for no reason they won’t press it unless certain it’s not. If you mistime it and debuff isn’t gone it’s not a fun time explaining it to your group that don’t understand how it’s on cd but didn’t get a buff and have no debuff.
Third is that lust is a HUGE source of toxicity, press it at the wrong time and a lot of hate might come your way. I always ask at the start of a run simply to avoid this, silence means whenever the luster wants so if they didn’t speak up that’s on them.
Fourth, is they might be waiting for a certain phase or boss. If lust is up by 3rd boss do you use it on 3rd or last? Depends on the bosses, group, and opinion. Some bosses have extra damage phases that you wait to use it on, some just have phases you want as short as possible. Take DF NO, you used BL first pull, 2nd boss, last boss. 2nd boss you waited for 2nd phase for BL and last boss you waited for transition to 2nd phase to kill adds quickly to stop the damage.
Fifth is deferring to another player to use it. This happens a lot, if someone else uses it first then they are the default bloodlust person. Also depending on the dungeon/boss you might defer to say a healer who can use it while DPS pop other cooldowns to maximize DPS uptime.
Finally, we just have ignorance/incompetence. It might not even be on their bars and/or they might not know when to pop it.
As for how to handle it, it’s pretty easy. At the start of the dungeon/raid “Hey XXXX can you handle lust? I lose a bunch of defensives if I spec my pet into it or I lose a bunch of dps if I hotswap”. You put the ball in their court. If they respond yes then it’s on them, if they respond no or don’t answer you at least know you’re forced to do it and have a good excuse for lower DPS so you don’t get harassed by the rest of the group. Bonus points if you ask/inform when to lust just in case they say yes but don’t know when. “I like lust at start of 1st boss and 2nd phase last boss, but whatever you’re comfortable with is fine too”. Gives them the knowledge without making them look bad and opens it up to the group to chime in if they want something different.

Don’t get me wrong I’d prefer people communicate and call it too even though I know when to typically lust in most if not all scenarios. I also know different people use different strats and like lust at different times. Most the time they don’t even say call for lust they just never hit it regardless.
