The title basically. Wasnt the mood the same with BFA in Beta. Everyone was worried but at the same time more blinded and hyped/giddy and excited to just throw money and gobble content blindly.
Its all too clear to me atleast that this expansion will be a rinse and repeat of failed systems layered on top of each other.
They will constantly undo their own rules which will prove the failure… People will see soon enough I forsee
Not at all, the community was much more pessimistic about BFA during beta. I remember that pretty clearly.
Shadowlands is indeed another iteration of “Modern WoW”.
Legion - BfA - Shadowlands.
Legion was received fairly well despite its flaws, so some of the feedback that we’re hearing even louder today didn’t gain a ton of traction.
BfA, well, we’re in it. We know the flaws, and we’ve voiced our opinions on various things. Blizzard knows.
But their xpack development cycle is… layered.
They start working on the xpack 2 xpacks out before the next one is even out. Pretty sure they said that somewhere ages ago. That means unless they want to throw away that early work, Shadowlands was always going to be an iteration of BfA’s ideas regardless of the reception BfA got, even early on.
10.0 will be the first real opportunity for Blizzard to take a step back and take WoW in a different direction – if they want to.
All of that said, I’m still looking forward to Shadowlands. New content is new content. Even if I’m not a huge fan of the direction Endgame has gone, it’s still fun. Worst case scenario, I absolutely cannot stand what they’ve done to Endgame and only play for a month or two. That’s pretty standard shelf life for AAA games. Most people don’t stick to the same game for much longer than that.
It’s almost like we enjoy WoW, regardless of the expansion.
Were some expansions better than others? Yes.
But that’s not really the point.
You cannot kill hope.

I don’t know what you’re talking about, Pessimism seems pretty high for me in pretty much every forum and discord I’m in.
Honestly, I’m starting to think Legion was a fluke under Ion’s team. This thing needs to be pushed to 2021 if there’s going to be any hope. Between the flawed systems and the incredibly out of touch philosophies that breed these systems, it’s a big mess to clean up.
I’m just trying to figure out how something that hasn’t even released yet can be labeled as failed and bad. MoP was labeled that way before it even released too, and many people say today how it surprised them and was a great expansion. Talking about how it will fail and what blizzard will and won’t do with it, before its even happened is stupidity. Its not that people are blinded and will just throw cash at it. Its that they arent stupid enough to judge something a failure before its even released. Any rational person would try something before saying its bad.

Because the biggest system of BFA, where the biggest flaws of the expansion existed, wasn’t tested until the final days of Beta, whereas currently the biggest system of Shadowlands is being tested now, with changes already made based off feedback (see Conduits).
Furthermore, the critical flaws of the Covenants system aren’t rooted in the fundamentals of the system. It doesn’t require systems to be layered on top of one another to improve it, simply it’s a matter of restrictions and numbers.
Shadowlands has an ideology problem that Blizzard is sticking by in the face of player nature and habits. Once they move on from that, we’ll be fine.
OP, you should just not play it and go find a game that you will enjoy and isn’t so bad. I’m sure there is something you can find to do with your time that you’ll enjoy.
I say, why do people not realize that Shadowlands will be AWESOME!
