I mean yes she did burn down the tree and everyone cried a river that she just cannoned over but besides that, that one incident with the tree, why would anyone hate Sylvanas? Yes Graymane does hate her because she killed his son or something? I don’t know if someone knows about that plot line let me know but she has literally done nothing to adhere to so much hate.

We effectively could have won the war, we could have held the tree hostage without further bloodshed, they lost, they knew it and then Sylvanas got triggered and ruined our Victory. Basically the story wasn’t written well and it turned her into a Villain rather than Anti-Hero she was kinda presented to be.

killing civilians is not genocide. I wish people would stop using that word. It is simply inaccurate.
It is under the parameters of what is called ‘total war,’ where every aspect of a civilization is at war, including civilians.
And to call it unprovoked is naive. The whole conflict was a powder keg waiting to blow

Well yes, in a sense.
The logistics of warfare plays just as much a crucial role in any military effort as actual combat. This was seen in World War 2, where all factories in an area would be turned into munitions plants.
Furthermore, children were used as spies, because it plays on the sympathies of the enemy, as it is not fathomable for the enemy to action against a poor innocent child. Not only that, children are just as able fletch an arrow, or even gather materials that would be used in the manufacturing of arrows.
This is not me condoning the act, but more of a historical account of how perceived innocence can be weaponized by the enemy.

I thought this post was going to blow up but it has only about 15 replies so I guess she is not as hated as everyone thinks she is and the people that are outspoken about her are probably shocked that she committed genocide in BfA.
This is where it turns into more of a military philosophy debate. For example, in the war against the Japanese, there was heavy debate about whether or not to go nuclear, because of the devastation it would cause.
Total victory is the end goal, the means by which it is obtained is always debatable, a balancing act between what is needed and what you’re willing to live with.
Furthermore, it was General MacArthur, whom during the korean war, made the claim that america should march on through to china, if they really wanted to put an end to the battle. However his ideas conflicted with those in washington, and such an incursion was never carried out.
So in terms of greater good, that is a point of contention that cannot be argued with any convincing absolutism.
