Why do people like frost?

Gameplay wise its very simple, I personally like more complexity, but frost is almost to simple.

Why do all of you who main frost enjoy it so much?

I don’t like frost because I’ve never been able to pull the same numbers I can on UH. Simplicity isn’t a bad thing imo, if your rotation is simple you can focus on more things such as player positioning, cds, adds spawning, etc. seeing those big crits as 2h frost will be interesting and might make me try it again.

Personally, I really love the theme of the spec more than anything else. The spell effects are great, and the class fantasy is just badass. But I enjoy M+ more than anything else, so having a less complex spec doesn’t feel as bad when there are many different things to pay attention to.
Plus there’s always breath build with Venthyr on large AoE, which is a minigame in itself, and getting a big breath feels great.

I’ve played some unholy on beta as well, and imo the spec feels terrible right now. There are a few more buttons, sure. But the downtime for unholy right now is atrocious. You only get to push buttons like 60% of the time, and dps outside of cooldowns feels pretty bad.

Frost has updated visuals, which makes it feel better to play for visual people.
UH and Blood are visually outdated.

Blood is a tank, and UH uses rotting minions to deal damage.

Frost chops away with weapons.

Frost is just cooler.

Not everyone likes the same thing…

not a fan of pet classes nothing more. playing frost still gets me a raid spot so it works.

Nothing wrong with simple. Simple means your attention isn’t drawn so much to your rotation, so you can pay more attention to enemy mechanics and react accordingly.

Let’s say hypothetically both specs had the exact same dps. It seems advantageous to pick the one that increases your raid awareness. Not trying to bash unholy though, because it is a respectable spec with lots of control over your own damage packed into its complexity.

I prefer simplicity over complexity for the sake of it, I.E Frost v Unholy.

I also really like the aesthetic.

BfA frost is trash and has no rotational damage at all. all of is damage is passive or in tight burst windows. It’s not very fun in BfA. Frost is supposed to be a simple, punchy spec, that hits buttons and nukes things. In SL, we have that punchy playstyle back, but in BfA, the spec has a lot of problems.

When I tanked icc, that was frost. What we have now is an abomination. Along with every other spec we have. This used to be my main at one point :’(

Because every class has the one training wheels spec. Frost is ours.

Frost feels very satisfying to play. Every ability looks and feels great.

Where as unholy nothing feels satisfying to press.

Why do you say that?

Because different people like different things.

Some people don’t like spammy specs where they constantly have to push a button every second.

Some people have different skill levels where they can’t push a button every second.

Some people NEED to keep their mind and hands busy and NEED to push a button every second.

Some people like the aesthetic and that’s enough for them.

Some people just don’t want to have to think too hard about a video game, and don’t want complexity in their gaming. They just want to be able to have a care free smooth experience where if they mess up their rotation, it’s not the end of the world. It won’t kill their dps streak.

There are lots of reasons someone might like a “Simpler” spec. It doesn’t mean it’s bad thing, and it doesn’t mean they’re less skilled than you.

You could literally ask this about every class. Every class has a more complex spec, and a simpler spec.

Your transmog! * Mwah * Beautiful!

I like frost because of the simplicity and I can move around more while dps’ing unlike Unholy.

Please dont answer for another person, it doesnt educate me at all as to what their reasons are.

Who did I answer for? I answered on my DK as a DK. I answered for myself as someone who plays all three specs.

What part of my original comment made you think I was answering on behalf of someone else?

Its what I started out with, but it was completely different at the time with a different rune system where it didnt have Runic Empowerment or Runic Corruption. Runes all recharged when you used them and runic power was to fill in the gap for your runes.

As time went on it seems to constantly gone downhill one way or the other. Legion and BFA had a focus to the spec so it was in a good spot, SL is regressing so its probably going to be the expansion where I either dont play altogether, or go to another class entirely.

I say regression because the reason why 2h was removed has been brought back which limits what it and the spec overall can do. Its very limited without many options and that in turn has an impact on DW which is what the spec was designed for. Despite what people might say about it, it was definitely designed for DW in mind. 2 runeforges, abilities striking with both weapons, procs that can be triggered from both weapons.

I dont feel like having a repeat of something that didnt work the first 3 expansions that they tried it.

It was a different spec from the others in that it was like a frozen berserker and it hit hard as well, as hard as 2h specs.
