Why do people hate WM bonuses?

I mean… in the end it’s still a bonus no matter how much you get.

The point of having an increased bonus for the other faction is to help even out participation and keep things balanced…

The bonus also helps with the increased risk and time it takes to complete the WQ.

I don’t understand the argument against taking WM bonuses away lol?

With such a username like that of course you will not understand anything

I believe the reason is because PvPers would rather only people who want to PvP to be in WM, as opposed to people who simply turn it on for the bonuses.

Hell, even if they did get rid of the bonuses, I would still keep it on because the WM talents speed things up for my spec.

No offense but with a name like yours why would you make fun of names. People cry about WM bonuses because for some bizarre reason, they “feel” the reward should just be there without the cost.

(puts out a little tray of cookies and a generous bowl of popcorn)

They’re in because they want people to participate and giving them a bonus helps with that. They rebalance the reward based on participation.

People don’t like the bonus because they feel people should choose to warmode on their own without the bonus.

As to why people don’t like the shifting bonus… because people love to say “faction bias” about pretty much anything.

The amount of “risk” isn’t worth it for the 10% extra XP for leveling imo

I would as well

I just wish to understand both sides of the arguments a bit better.

Thanks for you input!

The problem in all that is sharding, sharding makes warmode crap in all way possible.

And giving different bonus to different factions just break it, the best way to play warmode for Horde is not to activate it so Alliance doesn’t get the bonus :man_facepalming: .

The reason is because the bonuses are making people feel the need to actually be in War Mode for non-PvP reasons. I would say quite a few people feel like there were better ways of solving the imbalance issue with Alliance and Horde in War Mode, and incentivizing players with gear and bonus rewards was not the way to go for that.

War mode should be for people that enjoy PvP, not for people that enjoy PvE that feel the rewards are too good for them to pass up. That sort of incentive just makes people bitter - when they get chain-ganked out in the world, or just when the other faction has a higher bonus.

(Also, yeah - someone brought up the sharding situation, which, uhh… kinda makes War Mode suck a lot more than it should).

Because no one should need a bribe to play a mode. You should play it because you enjoy it, or you shouldn’t be playing it at all.

Again, the increased risk and time is PART of the mode itself. Did PvP servers get bonuses and rewards for choosing to play on them?

Been saying this all along, and if you are going to be dishing out incentives to pvp, it should be given to both factions equally.
People who play either horde or alliance both pay the same real life money and should be given equal rewards. Both paying customers and all.

Because PvE rewards “gated” behind PvP content makes for bitter players “suffering” content they hate just for sake of gaining that reward for the content they do enjoy.

Basically, people assume there would be 50% less complaining if non-PvPers didn’t feel enticed to engage in PvP. Whether or not they’re right is another conversation.

But a lot of PvP stuff requires PvE now, and current PvP stuff do not give that much AP.

I personally think the bonus is fair to PvPers.

Again, that is just me as a PvPer though.

The bonuses as they’re implemented now and how the were implemented at launch is lazy and poor incentivization for War mode. They should have added capturable objectives that unlock perks such as vendors that we could buy cool stuff. Or they should have made the tool tip read the War mode bonus as baseline and not War mode as penalized -10% rewards.

Honestly, considering WoW is a role playing game, then one would expect role playing aspects to be required at all game levels. I’m sorry if you don’t enjoy that, but this is the type of game that you’re playing.

As a raider, I don’t exactly enjoy having to do world quests, the weekly island expeditions, or a 10 mythic plus dungeon every week, but it’s part of playing the game.

^^This^^. Unbalanced incentives for a play style that a person does not like only encourages zergs and zerg camping/ganking.
Warmode could have been designed ‘for’ pvpers with 1vs1 1vs2/3 group vs group objectives, siege warfare etc instead we got more campers.
Please pass the marshmallows…

Lol, the bonus doesn’t make me feel like I need to be in WM

Yea, my point to that though is you get rewarded more for doing that.

PvP currently is apart of the RP right now as well.

It takes me winnng 3 arena matches to get what you would get in about 2 IE’s.

Losing arena matches currently yield nothing.

I don’t see why having a bonus hurts anything. People don’t have to play in WM, and they definitely can make up for not playing in the Bonus really fast compared to most PvPers.

Again, just my personal Opinion though.

Then they need to buff the rewards for doing those things, correct? Bribing people to turn on a mode that they don’t enjoy isn’t exactly a great fix, as we’ve seen since they implemented that AAO quest.
