Why do people get so offended over lust/hero?

I wouldn’t mind, at least for MM. I didn’t choose the sniper spec to have a dumb pet running around and ruining the entire fantasy.

in a +5 they probably don’t even know they have lust or don’t remember

Then those MMs are stupid. Assuming the group has no other source of BL, it’s going to be a bigger buff to YOUR damage than Lone Wolf, not even counting how much it buffs the damage of everyone else in the group!

Also, you don’t have to dismiss the pet immediately; pets also do damage, so you lose only a couple percent by leaving it out until the end of combat (meaning you’re still way above if no one had cast BL at all).

Or you could just notice that you’ve been invited to a group with no other source of BL and spec out of Lone Wolf for that run. Then it won’t be a problem at all.

It was near the end of WoD. That is probably the most misunderstood thing the devs have ever said – the reason they didn’t want people getting attached to that version of Demonology is that they were already internally working on redesigning it for Legion because they had to un-steal WC3 Illidan’s ult. But they weren’t ready to reveal that yet, so they could only give vague warnings.

That started a “the devs just hate some specs and want them to be bad” conspiracy theory that persists to this day, although which specs are the supposed victims changes from time to time. Because the playerbase does its best to live up to that quote from Men in Black: “A person is smart. People are dumb, panicky dangerous animals and you know it.”

Ever played one? Their voidwalkers are a pain to manage next to a hunter’s tenacity pet.

Fair enough.

Oh thank you finally someone said it. The players seem to misunderstand a lot of things, but that’s to be expected I guess

I dunno, maybe they were offended by your attitude. If you want to dictate when someone uses a specific ability, maybe play the class that provides it. Or bring drums if it’s so important that you be in control.

Not to say that when I play a lust class that I refuse to use lust when the tank tells me to, I absolutely will. But it doesn’t sound like you were the tank in this case. And half the time I don’t remember who the group lead is when I pug, so some random barking at me (especially during a pull) to use lust is generally going to get ignored unless the tank speaks up too.

As to the hunter being a jerk and pulling all the trash - yeah that was wrong. But when they threw your own words back at you maybe that should have triggered some latent self-awareness that perhaps the way you handled the situation initially could have been done better. Yes, it’s your key, but that doesn’t make you the supreme dictator of everyone’s actions while running it.

Just a suggestion: if you’re going to be this insistent that people use lust when and only when you tell them to, then perhaps you should let those classes know before the key even starts. Tell them that as the key leader you’d like them to use lust/hero on x boss and then use it on x boss. If they don’t agree, don’t invite them/kick them. I’d additionally suggest also being polite about it. You get more flies with honey than you do by yelling at them.

If this was one of those AITA threads on Reddit and you posted this about the hunter, then I would definitely say ESH.

I am not talking about PET survivability, I am talking about DEFENSIVES for the PLAYER.

Well i see where you went wrong.

Well OP there’s two possibilities here.
-The hunter was offended by you telling him/her how to play his class. That’s NOT what your intentions were, of course, but it may be the hunter’s interpretation.
-There was a misunderstanding somewhere as to your intents. Unlikely but possible.
-The hunter was just a dick, and I know it’s so hard to believe such a thing could occur in the pristine and overly positive environment of Mythic Plus.

The one thing all these scenarios have in common though is that you shouldn’t worry about it. Be clear and direct if you’re leading the group and don’t worry otherwise.

Lmao. Nope.

You had me up until this part.

Just because you formed the group doesn’t mean you know what you’re talking about.

And it 100% doesn’t mean you can dictate how I PLAY MY TOON!

If the group as a whole wants hero/lust at a particular time, that’s fine. But don’t think for once second that you have ANY agency over how I play simply because you were the dude that pressed 1 button to invite me.

You need to get over yourself.

Was the hunter in the right? No. Not only with not using lust, but also in being a jerk after. However your ego probably didn’t help matters. It’s very clear that you have an authority problem. It seems to me like you have a need to be in control. Even if that control is over someone else’s character.

There’s generally 3 sides to every story. Your side, the hunter’s side and the truth.

And I’m willing to bet that there’s a whole lot more to it than you’re willing to tell us.

I’ve been hit with “if you knew better you shouldn’t have listened to me” before so even that isn’t foolproof.

The most toxic players are in really low keys, unfortunately.

You can summon your ferocity pet, begin casting dismiss, and can hero as soon as the pet dismisses so you get full heroism uptime as MM since pet hero is not on the GCD for hunters.

Hunters refusing to hero is pure laziness. Paladins should get hero.

Being lazy is a hunter weapon.

oh look another hunter complaint thread - yawn
this didnt require a thread from you, just complain in your livejournal please

When I run keys on my Evoker, I always ask which bosses the group wants lust on before we punch the key.

Seems simple to me.

If it were me, I’d just deal with the hassle of pulling, casting, and dismissing. I’d never spec out of Lone Wolf; too much dmg loss over whole dungeon, which is a much bigger problem than BL as MM.

I will obviously hero as MM when I’m the sole BL, I just said some MMs might not (and I get why). I don’t think that’s what the OP encountered though. They just got a bad player with better-than-thou attitude. :frowning:

Yeah. Well. You’re not going to have everything handed to you on a silver platter and it’s unrealistic and unreasonable to think you will. As the song says “You can’t always get what you want, but if you try you might find sometimes you get what you need.”
