40k is WAY more interesting than anything WoW has had to offer post-Arthas/Legion. It’s not even close.
I’ve never played Warhammer. Never a game of any sort whether it’s video or board. I’ve been reading 40k Wiki’s for a while now just interested in the story, world, and characters, though.
The emperor of mankind is one of the most interesting Wiki’s i’ve delved into in a long time. It’s an injustice to even lump this in with WoW.
I never liked 40K, maybe the whole space marine gene editing to create super race of soldiers that kill everything that’s not like them has something to do with it.
I think I started diving into the wiki once I saw that “Astartes” video set.
I had almost 0 knowledge about it and still have close to 0 knowledge, but those videos were so interesting I went down a youtube rabbit hole for a long, long time.
can’t take wow story seriously anymore after playing through all the content in ff14 and ESO. WoW just has better combat and collecting mechanics, and cinematics done well. Quest dialogues can be skipped entirely.
Imagine if we had gone into WoD solo and had a basic camp which we had to build ourselves and such. Like that amount of survival would have been painful and cool at the same time.
It was great in the past. Story of Sylvanas, before BfA. Arthas had great lore, look how popular Wrath was because of him. Thrall, Varian, Vol’jin, the list goes on. But they stories started to get bad in MoP. When they needed a villain so they took a Horde character and ruined him. Legion lore wasnt bad. But the story now is just a mess. Its like all over the place.
Probably, because it’s supposed to be. I mean I seriously doubt they were ever trying to be Tolkien LOTR quality when it comes to storytelling in this game lol.
I personally like the mix of campiness and the occasional dark element as it brings charm to a franchise, especially WoW. You get a sense of whimsy and fun, tidbits of moments that may or may not shock or hit you in the feels button, and as though on queue, the expansion of the time’s poop quest if you don’t mind lowbrow humor.
My guilty pleasure films consist of anything directed by Joss Whedon or Sam Raimi [especially the Evil Dead franchise] and WoW has always given me those vibes. They’re fun while not afraid to go dark here and there [should it not give bad PR]
