Why do people feel they have to be objectively right to like or dislike something?

I dunno. I mean, when it comes to people enjoying or not enjoying videogames it really shouldn’t be that hard. Just let people like or dislike them. /shrug

If you don’t think others should express their feelings, then I don’t think you should express your either.

Some of the coolest moments are when you have polar opposites views, but you still have a respectful discussion. And you still like/respect the individual you disagree with.

Oh objectively? People have reasons and facts to determine what is right and what is wrong in their personal state. It may never be the majority of choice.

Never said this. Work on your reading comprehension.

Shouldn’t but it is. We are talking about human beings here, they have so many bad traits it would be super long to list them all.

See? This guy gets it. He just said he didn’t like it. Didn’t say the other guy was wrong, didn’t attack him. :+1:

everyone is entitled to their own opinions. there are things i’ll get super aggressive about but that’s mostly related to morality not stuff posted on the forums. :stuck_out_tongue:

I don’t mind people enjoying things, i just mind when they act like they’re not in the minority about it when numbers show they are (not wow of course, blizz can’t afford to release numbers)

There is a difference between subjective and objective quality.

It’s fine to like something that is bad; “liking” is a subjective experience on your part. However, liking it doesn’t make it good.

No one should be a jerk to you in either case, but also be aware that being critical of an idea or game feature is not necessarily being critical of your subjective experience of the thing, or of you specifically.

Part of the problem is people take these forums too seriously. I have seen people get pretty vicious with each other over things as silly as Sylvanas and the lore of elves.

We are all just people playing a game. No one needs to make assumptions about other people based on their opinions of WoW.

No we don’t! You’re just trying to start an argument and that makes you objectively bad! I’ll argue this to the ends of the earth!

I mean, ok, whatevs, but personally, if two people liked a game that everyone else hated I still wouldn’t give them a hard time about it. You two play your terrible game. It’s fine with me. I’ll be over here playing a game I like.

Now, if I tried their terrible game and I thought it was terrible I’d say it was terrible. But I’d never say they’re wrong to like it or that they shouldn’t like it. I’d just, in my head, be like ‘I can’t understand why anyone would like that terrible game, but whatever.’ and move on.

For example, I thought 9.1 was boring and I couldn’t stand Korthia. A lot of people did like it. I never said they were wrong. I didn’t think I was right. I just thought it was, to me, boring.

People like this are evil. I like to noms me some :broccoli:

Hee hee

Here’s how I feel about the whole situation, mainly because exactly no one asked me;
Broccoli is great! Pour some melted cheese over it, light dash of jalepeno seasoning, yep. Then put it with a medium rare steak, with some sauteed mushrooms over it… then put a big ol’ baked potato on the side, steaming hot, freshly cut open, butter melting down into it… with sour cream and bacon bits…

I’m sorry, what were we talking about again??

Mama bear coming out. Gentle yet firm.

It’s pretty groovy if you can reach a point where ppls opinions don’t bother you. It’s as simple as that.
