Why is it that whenever I do any form of content, I’m instantly mocked because of the server I play on? Why do people feel the need to look down on me because I’m from a roleplay server?
And even then why is it the same old things? Whatever happened to originality? It’s always the same old rehashed insult of being told to go back to Goldshire.
Because a lot of people are cruel, and will jump on any bandwagon they can think of to degrade somebody; even if said bandwagon is based upon lies. Most people aren’t very original, either, and will re-hash the same low-hanging-fruit insult to throw at people. Again, even if it’s a complete lie.
I’m a roleplayer and I’m like the biggest casual in WoW. I don’t spend time raiding and I put minimal effort into raising my item level. I just like roleplaying with friends because it’s a fun creative outlet for me.
I know for a fact I’m less devoted to this game than most people on non-rp servers. This is even my main toon.
I see this a lot in BGs and just kind of laugh because by the end its usually all MG people that were mocked at the start who are on the top of the board.
I really just embrace it at this point. I leveled my first Alliance on MG two years ago when I was feeling fed up with the community aspect of the game. MG put the life back into the game for me. So many people willing to help and were super friendly. MG is really a great community who sticks up for their own.
Don’t let the toxic bs that spill over from other servers bother you. If you’re enjoying your time here, just ignore it.
There was a time that I started to get burned out from playing WoW. Its when I started playing on an RP server the game became more interesting. The world is alive around you. Instead of running past NPCs and AFK players, you run by actual characters having a conversation… or some buy with a two-handed sword chasing you screaming “its nothing personal kid!”
PvE/PvP isn’t the main focus for a lot of players on RP servers. That’s why there are dedicated servers for it. Really all you can do is your best, and rek them in whatever content your doing. I’m currently unguilded so I pug raids, and I get a lot of flack for being from Moon Guard. I just ask if they can hear me since they’re so far below me on the DPS meter. ; )
Because people think themselves to be soooo funny! Like the funniest dude ever! And they gotta say that joke. They just have to! Otherwise they will die. “gO bAcK tO gOlDsHiRe lolz”
After working in retail I can safely say people in the real world are the same way. Everyone says the same five jokes all day like it’s an absolute BANGER. eyeroll it really is awful rofl
I usually ignore it when it happens to me, but every now and then it’s fun to get a wild hair and play trollo/sarcastic comments with 'em. Try to not let it bother you too much!
Just play well and no one will give a damn where you come from, server wise. No one has ever said anything to me that was mean in regards to being on Moon Guard. In fact, I’m often told that people are surprised to see I’m from Moon Guard. Play well and they’ll leave the mockery at the door.
I cannot play much this expansion due to my schedule buuut:
Ran into this all the time in legion raiding. I was always #1 or a close second raid healer in the circles I ran in. The second I caught flak I would just say “I don’t want to be a burden. I can leave if you want to get someone from a normal server.” And normally that would make them back peddle. Was a little game I liked to play. If someone was being a real dick I would just not heal them and say “sorry it’s my character lore not to heal you.” Just like your ability do the real talking.
I love MG. I have played all over but MG’ers are a rare breed and I love the community. Not trying to hide it.
It’s funny when people knock me for it, but I outdo them in pve or pvp.
“Yeah, I’m a trash roleplayer, right? So why’d I beat you? Not only you, all of you, and the other team?”
Just gets silence or bulls**t replies.
Don’t run into it very often. Just ran into this yesterday during an island… all I said was “hi.” The other player was nice but this turd bucket from Sargeras “please don’t RP at me.”
I’m like “Dude, I wouldn’t anyways. Just do the island and we can go our own ways.”
Tbh my all-time favorite thing to do is school those neckbeard tryhards that think making fun of a roleplayer isn’t just the same thing as one nerd making fun of another nerd that knows more words than they do. Like Heathen said!
Especially on an unguilded night elf hunter that’s BM spec with a sleezmog and cat named something cute with a crap IO. Just the ultimate slap in the face when someone you think is going to suck actually beats you. There’s nothing to fall back on but, “Hey it’s literally just me.”
Because they are sheep and have the intellectual capacity of wallpaper paste. The best thing to do is outclass them in every way. Out DPS, heal like an angel, tank like a beast. Be more respectful and well spoken, just be better than the morons are. You already are by evidence of their behavior. Show them up with class and grace, and never let the bleating sheep get to you.
Sorry you had to go through it, we all do sadly. Sending some love you way for the wallpaper sheep’s BS.
You’re always going to find the odd idiot looking to get a kick out of trying to make fun of your preference in the game. Pop them on ignore and don’t pay much mind to them, 80% of people outside of Moon Guard who know about Goldshire probably has a level 1 alt shamefully sitting in there.
Words are words, and shouldn’t be taken to heart, especially from a stranger over a video game.
Thats when you reply to them with… “Hey, at least i know where the funs at… and it aint with you! Hahahaha!!” And bounce out like the cool kids on MG do XD
Seriously though, ive gotten shunned by people for being on Moon Guard, kicked from pugs, treated pretty badly here and there and i try not to let it bother me; if they cant see Me, if they cant ask Me why im on the server, if they’re going to be like that, then i want nothing to do with them. Plenty of nice folks on MG to chat with anyway!
tbh i think the worst i’ve had was being pointed at for being from mg, not sure about being denied or what, I’ve always had an above average ilvl, knew how to play my class or something before I transferred. Even then, I still have a ton of characters on this realm and I always manage to do better than most pugs especially in random bgs because lolmoonkin is easy
anyways, the worst i’ve prob had was the whole ‘lol moon guard’ or ‘lol goldshire garbo here’
I got kicked out of a raid for being from Moonguard at one point no joke.
Well to be honest, I was doing slightly lower on damage that everyone wanted and someone jokingly said “She would rather be roleplay in Goldshire right now.” I didn’t have a microphone so I couldn’t say anything. The raid leader thought he was being serious and kicked me but not before telling me rather rudely to get out of his raid before I give everyone aids.
This was my first ever raid experience on normal. Now if you want to know why I don’t like doing raids, you know why.
