Why do people expect a massive fall off?

Of course there are. Nobody said the population is going to zero. I’m saying that will explain a huge dropoff.

Meh. Everyone knows what the numbers say.

But I gotta go with my gut on this one

I assume it will drop some. Many people will try it out that have no intentions of playing it as their main version. I will play classic some, but play the latest one mainly. I had fun this last weekend. Bear form quest… hehe. Look forward to swim form quest.

keep looking into the abyss before long you will forget her(bfa)

Ah, and never forget the old trope that the MMO genre is dead.
It seems that FF14, ESO, GW2 and heck even retail WoW players are blissfully unaware of that.
Just what I said, nothing new to see here folks, just good old Doom & Gloom.

IMO When AQ opens the drop off will happen. The gear gap from raiders to non raiders is so Vast the game isnt fun for them.

I sincerely hope that you are correct

This sounds like a pvp server problem, though

We’ve got about 15 from Vanilla/TBC coming back in our guild

sounds awesome man

I do think there will be some drop off, but I also think there will be returning players filling up at least some of those spots. They haven’t really put much into promoting Classic (a mistake, IMO), so I expect it take a while for some to learn of Classic by word of mouth.

It’s strange to me, tbh, that they didn’t take advantage of the opportunity to make this a big part of the 15th anniversary thing. Oh, well, I’m sure the cash shop is full of new things to celebrate it.

Not even these things are safe. They render half your mount collection useless for large chunks of (ever increasing) time, take away mount features (water walking) and replace with subpar items to buy. Many mog appearances are far from unique now, so things you spent a lot of time farming (or earning back in the day) very well might be common now. Achievements aren’t safe either, as I learned when they took away Keymaster without warning, for example.

The current devs do not respect our time and effort at all.

And, now they are talking about a level squish as well, despite all the issues created with stat squishes. That should be really… interesting. Like character power doesn’t already suck due to scaling.

I wanted to like new WoW. I miss really playing the characters I’ve invested in over the years, but it’s just not worth it any more. Time to make new characters and new friends and new memories in Classic.

Massive fall off and player drop is a thing, cause

1 repeat experience for many.
2 its not free
3 everyone is trying so hard most people lack the stamina to keep going, eventually they say “forget it” and just quit.

Repeat and I love it . Free oh no I made 15 bucks in 2 weeks doing surveys. 3 Journey.

The fall off will be from the Retail Players/Tourists. There won’t be a huge drop from Vanilla players.

why are you people paying for this game 15 years later, and loving the charge .

its not about the money its the principles which need to change. until people recognize the system is flawed and your money isn’t making the system better,
It will never get better.

open your lives up to some free experience and free change. Become more liberated and less controlled by a organization that wants you to be pay slaves forever.

Because thats how games work.

so sorta like banks charging you extremely high interest on loan but then giving the person with millions less then a .5% on interest then losing it all an begging to government for bailout which costs the Federal government trillions for the next 30 years.

Because we’ve been here before and the nerd masses are fairly predictable.

dude, that’s why everyone is coming back.
