I’ve been on the high end and low end of raiding never really seen a logical reason why LFR is bad for the game. The reason most people that do LFR is so they can see the content and they don’t really plan on doing any difficulty beyond that.
When I was new to the game in MoP I never would have been able to do the raids without LFR I would have had no clue what even went on in Throne of Thunder ect.
Maybe I’m too old school, but raiding was more of an event than just 20-man gameplay. LFR takes away a lot of that event approach. Do LFR players even know where the entrance to the lair they’re approaching is? Immersion was always an incredibly important factor to the game for me, I always felt like MMORPGs trived on it.
On a different subject, I hate how LFR (and the LFG dungeon spam) justify the Adventure Guide’s existence even more, which I hate more than both of them combined.
Back in my day, you had to walk uphill to the raid entrance!!! Eh, LFR is good for new characters, casual players, returning players to get your feet wet again etc.
Self esteem problems show up in a lot of ways in online gaming, one of the major ways it shows up, is belittling things that are deemed “too easy”. Blizzard is smart enough to cater to a lot of different play styles.
Didn’t really need another thread about Lfr. there are already a couple that have been made recently. Just a little scrolling down you would of found them.
I want to say that people dislike LFR because of the whole queued content thing.
I understand to the extent that if more people are doing LFR only than it is unlikely people will sign up for your Normal groups… of course the counter to that is that people who only do LFR already don’t want to raid normal. But, its still an impact in some regard.
People also say it doesnt punish you enough, but do I have stories of the 8 minute Ghuun Phase 1 for anyone who thinks its not punishing when the healers are out of mana and nobody knows how to clear stacks. Its punishing but it takes a lot more to muck up a pull.
And perhaps the main thing is that people are sick of the expansions like WoD/BFA (and perhaps to an extent Legion), and want to go back to glory days… and LFR wasnt apart of that initially.
LFR breed players that complain about m0 not being queue-able or complain that people dont want to carry them because of raider io, because these people are so triggered when they see the word declined.
Ghostcrawler already said dumbing down the game won’t make the average playerbase better, they will just get even worse, luckily he’s in better spot right now.
The two are mutually exclusive. If one is true, the other is false.
It is not and should not be the goal of the game to give players who don’t want to raid very little to do so they will attempt to sign up for pug groups which they aren’t qualified for and don’t want them. That’s already a big problem with m+.
But it’s usually raiders complaining about this. Raiders are really bad?
Mythic raiders rarely give a damn about LFR unless they are forced to do it(Which in 8.3 they will be cuz broken effects are worth 20-30 ilvls)
Mythic raiders overall always have better ilvl than heroic raiders which have better gear overall then normal raiders which have better gear overall from LFR raiders. Mythic raiders care about finishing the raid, they dont rly care if some guy who does ultra casual content has a good piece of gear.
I do m+ and heroic raids, I got a 445 ring from heroic Azhara, my ilvl is nearing 440, and guess what? Most serious mythic raiders are above 445 and therefore have better gear than me because they do harder content overall.
The only people that actually are mad about LFR existing are just bad players who are jealous some low level player get to have a few nice pieces of gear, it is pure emotional jealousy.
Preach said somethign that I believe is true, people who raid heroic can easily become deluded and think they are skilled because on heroic level raids there are many average players so it is easy to feel like you are really skilled and better than others, but things change once people move to actual serious mythic raiding.
Raiders I know usually don’t care. But the ones who post in the forums care a lot, so much they got a big nerf to casuals’ gear as a gift for their egos.
LFR is not fit for purpose anymore, since blizz spilt its playerbase in 2 with classic - waiting times for dps in retail are horrific (2hrs 5 mins yesterday for a palace raid).
as of late i get thrown into raids with 1 or no tanks a lot ( resulting in more waiting time on top ) - lfr is now a full time job in itself if you want or have to do it to see content .
