Why do people complain so much that SL is grindy? There is literally only 1-2 activities that you need

Your name def fits your post. The issue is the time gating of stories which is so time gated I no longer give a darn.

Next is the next to no gear from m+ and raid runs.

3 weeks of clearing 9/10 bosses in CN and I got no loot…literally myself and a few others

A thousand times this. The Maw is unfun. The world quests are unfun. Torghast is hit or miss. Being forced to go to the meta covenant is unfun. Did anyone stop and ask the question, “Hey are all these systems and activities we ask the players to do fun?”

Seriously, once I get sockets unlocked I never want to step foot in the Maw again.

Unfortunately, that’s the very reason that the majority of the playerbase - the ones that DON’T do “professional progression content” - have found themselves with nothing on offer for them, and I suspect a subscriber crash is coming as a result.

if u don’t want to actually play the game, go grind anima. upgrade ur covenant sanctum. throw tea party and grow a garden. you don’t need gear or guild to do any of that.

So in other words your saying that there is really nothing to do in this Boring expansion?

Do people at bus stations or airports commonly say goodbye to everyone?

You’re right though- SL is just boring, not grindy.

Ah yeah because people should only care about a part of the game which is deemed necessary and otherwise everything else doesn’t matter.

Grinding I am fine with.

Chores and boredom I am not.

Maybe the gameplay could be rewarding and not timegated and I would enjoy it more. Bored with PVE and did some PVP. At conquest cap now and timegated there too.

The game has been very much gated at every opportunity. While I can appreciate their attempts to stretch out gameplay, they could just make it good enough that they dont have to gate it at all.

In TBC at launch you could go out and to the full experience. There were actual keys to grind out for heroic and such and that was fine. Raid tiers were available; You just had to be good enough to get to them.

That was all.
Simple.
Fun.
Rewarding.

Imagine buying Street Fighter 2 for your sega genesis and beating your first match, then your second match and your having some fun, then a pop up tells you that the next two matches will unlock on tuesday when Ryu and Ken become available to play against, and then paying to wait?

Wow addresses this by giving us dailys, torghast, maw, and impactless professions. It’s just very boring.

Why? I’m assuming by “need”, you mean “increases character power”. The only rep that gave power was Champions of Azeroth and that was removed.

You’re literally moving the goalpost on the second item in your list. Now you don’t need it unless you do.

You must farm 1000/week to cap your Renown for character power.

Never was. Shadowlands has a much stricter number of quest requirement than literally any other expansion, since you can’t get your Covenant or Legendary without doing the main story of every zone.

In BFA you had to complete all zones main and some story lines to unlock flying. Flying is a big thing and you needed all reps at revered. That’s what i was talking about. Perhaps I could have phrased it better.

people need to keep providing feedback til the day the game dies, regardless of whether it irks blizzard white knights

keep announcing your departures as long as it comes with some kind of productive feedback

games don’t get better without feedback

It is grindy though. Once you have completed the few weekly and daily quests that progress your character there is little left to do but grind out conduit upgrades and reputation. Conduits wouldn’t be bad if they could be obtained via random content but Blizzard made it so they are tied to specific dungeon bosses or daily covenant awards meaning you run the exact same dungeons and world quests day after day. As I don’t want to do that I log out of the game as soon as I’ve completed my dailies so instead of playing the game for several hours I’m off in about an hour and a half. I guess the upside is it is letting me get back into playing ESO where I plan to spend my monthly sub money rather than spend it here when my sub is up.

Right now… it is massively time gated.

It just feels like it has the potential to be very grindy in the future… especially since they seem to have removed rep gains from core story missions… which isn’t promising for the inevitable rep that will need to reach X point to move forward that will be added in the first major content patch.

Probably some form of unified Covenant army rep that needs to be at a certain level to get the McGuffin needed to take the fight to whatever big evil thing that the Jailor is going to achieve to ramp up the stakes.

There’s a LOT more to the game than “professional progression content”.

Or, at least, there used to be.

Ah, right. You’re one of those. “Professional” indeed…

I need ALL the cosmetics. The game is no fun if you can’t look good while playing it.

40 renown, 3 renown per week is insane. Then there’s the Bolvar quest chain, why the heck is that even timegated. Low so nerfed the Great Vault is pretty much the way to gear up in PvE. Conquest timegate, LFR’s increased timegate, Avowed Sin stone turn in time gate.

It feels like this expansion is built from the ground up to get you to log in every week for at least 15 weeks. It’s like they had this number in mind, 15 weeks, and made everything around it.

Wrath of the Lich King excelled in dailies, world content, exploration, flying, questing experience…

You’re kinda forgetting wq’s that reward 250, the two weeky dungeons, after that you need maybe 2-3 wq’s max. It’s so incredibly easy. Hell, do 2 world quests per day. You’ll hit it before the week is over. Promise.

Reputation - required to unlock specific memories, and patterns. Not to mention a very high chance of requiring it for flying when it gets here.
Daily Maw - anyone serious is probably wanting to push more than 1 legendary, and at max current level
Anima - conduits

I guess we’ll have to agree to disagree. Were the rewards from Wrath dailies that meaningful to you? Like, a green protodrake, a red drake, and sons of hodir? For the vast majority of players Wrath was about doing laps around Dalaran.

That goes for the world content too. We had what, the Argent Tournament added? Yeah, the jousting minigame sure was fun.

I’ll agree with you on exploration and questing experience. Wrath definitely was about as perfect as you could get questing and traveling through the zones.
