I was in a +4 a few months ago and someone was giving the tank crap about his route through Algathar Acadamy even though no one died and we had like 10 minutes left on the timer, and it was a freaking lowbie +4.
It wasn’t “hey tank, good work, but in higher keys, there’s a better route,” it was “lol that route sucked, you suck tank”
I just remember being like, dude, who cares? We beat the timer and the dungeon, why are you salty that his route didn’t meet MDI standards . . . in a +4?
So yeah, there are toxic players in pugs, they crop up like weeds every now and then.

With pvp it’s pretty common… it’s why i quit pvp.
Pve? I haven’t had that but have had other toxic things happen although very rare.

PVP is a no-brainer, it’s pretty much like a COD lobby but a bit more tamed. But PVE, it’s definitely not as bad as everyone is making it seem.
Depends on who you get and i try to be fun in keys. If we make a mistake “nbd accidents happen” or something positive.
I try doing keys with one of my friends and then just pugging for the rest. Just because it’s a lot more entertaining than being in a group with people you don’t really know. I try to be positive as well, if I ever have anything negative to say, I just say it to my friends in a VC not to the person because it’s mean.

I have chat turned off in game, the forum people are way more fun to talk to than the people you get in pugs.
I dont know you’ll get gems ever now and again

The only reason I pug as well,
I love watching the chaos unfold and making bets with myself to see who leaves first.
I’ve had some keys where the run literally stops and it’s just a couple of people tearing into eachother, I find myself a good spot and get the popcorn out
The hilarious thing is you don’t recognize that as toxic. Guess we know who the toxic player in your PUGs is…

Really? Lol. I don’t see them as toxic at all, yes they’re unpleasant but I just sit there and laugh at them. Besides, why would I be toxic towards someone? That’s just a one way ticket to get silenced or suspended, lol guess I’m toxic for finding the stupidity in those messages.
This is my experience in dungeons of all types. Sometimes i carry folks, other times I get blown off the charts. But everyone is always quiet pleasant and we get the job done.
Once in a blue moon someone might mouth off, but if you don’t respond, there’s only one idiot. Even then no one gets kicked and we finish the run.
LFR on the other hand…
Then you are a very lucky person.
Watching the foul mouthed screaming in chat over nonsense and the absolute PETTY reasons for them to kick someone absolutely ruined 5 man runs for me.
I can barely stand playing with these folks now.
Im sure if the in game ignore list has a cap Im either at it or close.
There were four players from Tich a long while back…lol…they all made it to the list.
Racist, phobic hate vomit the entire run.
If you havent seen bad behavior, which I find very suprising…count yourself lucky

LFR is a whole new ball game.
because its a very real thing and the way M+ is designed makes it very easy for people to grief.
“Toxicity” gets thrown around so much that it basically just means if someone inconveniences you, or you lose in a video game, the other person is toxic. It’s actually kinda funny imo.
“Real” Toxicity is certainly there, it’s just not super common, the forums make it seem that way because no one really talks about how awesome their dungeon run was where they completed the dungeon really quick with no issues, or where they learned about this new skip they like, or about this awesome group that helped out the newbie healer do better.
they just queue up again, until they get a bad run, and they come here to complain about it.
People will always complain about things they don’t like, and everyone likes different things.
You just complained about people complaining.
if you want to see real toxicity here you go. https://us.forums.blizzard.com/en/wow/u/Kiper-sentinels/activity has never been silenced btw
It doesn’t cost anything to be a decent person. You can criticize without being a prick about it. If you want to act like a tough guy on the internet you can bring your key back up from the level below it. I don’t have to deal with tantrum throwing nobodies.
I believe it is pretty common, but I feel like complaining over every little negative thing a person says is a bit ridiculous. Yes, people are toxic and have bad behavior in keys, nobody is denying that but nobody is ever telling you to play with them again. People are forgetting a report system is out there to prevent bad behavior. And you’re right, nobody ever does talk about the good sides of pugging. I remember back in Shadowlands when I tried out tanking, I was terrible, but the group never said a single thing about it or even complained, all they said was: “We could tell you were new” and that was that. I have a lot of good experiences with mythic+ but I also have a lot of bad ones, but at the end of the day, I realize hey, this is a online video game and yeah it sucks that my key went down but i can always get it back up again. I just don’t understand why people have such a major issue with pug toxicity, don’t like it? Don’t do it. Or find a work around.
I don’t play DF, but the last time I plugged was in SL. It was a M+ and we failed the key. I’m fine with taking responsibility because I made mistakes and was probably one of the reasons we failed the key. After the key I didn’t get any loot and 1 of the members said…
“I’m glad that you didn’t get anything hunter. You were trash”
Another member agreed and then told me to uninstall. Now people are more than likely going to posture and tell me to grow thick skin. And I’d say I do. I’ve had death threats and slurs thrown my way so many times I’ve become numb to it. But it doesn’t create a welcoming environment for new players at all.
If you haven’t really experienced toxicity, good for you! I’m glad your experience is better. But toxicity in WoW has been rampant ever since it’s inception.
