Oriborealis here
I call it Oreo … nc what real name is. Its circular and full of crud
I call it
They’re probably playstation devs.
They’re the same people who say “for all intensive purposes” and think they’re making sense.
i say oribob
Seen it plenty of times myself. Gets kinda annoying, but there isn’t much you can do about it. We’re talking about the human race here. The typical idiot cannot figure out the difference between the following:
Your/You’re
Then/Than
There/Their/They’re
Canon/Cannon
Literally/Figuratively
Affect/Effect
And there are plenty more examples that would take me way too long to type out, but with that said: you’re expecting them to get Oribos right?
“Oribos” doesn’t sound like a place name.
Same reason we call Ardenweald “arden”…too long.
It’s literally one more syllable.
Heh…SLAX: SL Air Exchange
I’m gonna call it SLAX from now on. Thanks Wild!
Maybe people sometimes just get stuck with a “first impression” of the word. For example: I’ve always called Valdisdall, Vagisil; or Challiane’s Terrace, Chantilly Lace.
I’ve referred to it as Orbis everyone now and then because my job works with a company called Orbis and it pops in my mind sometimes when I’m playing given the similarities in spelling.
We’re subtly projecting our nostalgia regarding a certain mid level region of a certain 2D side scrolling MMO from 2006. We’ll do better OP
Same reason people say thorghast, cus they’re dumb as a box of rocks.
“Oribos” has a whole extra syllable and I’m a busy, busy woman, I just don’t have the time.
O-Town
*eye twitch *
Your right…I should just call it Ard to make it shorter.
I’ll put as much effort into pronouncing Orbi as Blizzard put into designing it.
