Why do people bother trying to do mount skip runs on SL raids?

Now don’t get me wrong, I farm as much as the next person. Probably more so. But this just strikes me as highly illogical. And I speak from experience as someone who did such these all through BfA for Legion raids etc.

So why? The drop rates were reduced down to 1%? And that will get further reduced by the division of about 20 players (which is what you’ll need for mythic sylvanas/Jailer usually). So that’s about a 0.05% chance that you’ll get the drop. To put that into context, that’s about the same drop rate as pre-buff angry Sha noodle I think? Or perhaps the Sha was lower I don’t remember.

So yes, there’s a chance you will get it still. But damn if it’s a very teensy weensy chance.

Maybe they just enjoy the raid and want to run it again  So they put “mount run” in the title to get people who don’t know, so it fills a bit quicker.

I mean more in relation to skip runs. I totally understand mog runs.

Isn’t it because for some reason you can’t even solo mythic shadowlands raids as a level 70 for some reason? i faintly remember somebody complaining about how the shadowlands raids are still overtuned and the bosses still actually do damage.

To be fair, 1 in 2000 is low but it’s not 0. Maybe they just really want the mount now and it’s the only way they have a chance to get it. Although no way would I be willing to form a group and go to a raid and run it for that low of a chance.

Well yes, but that’s my point. Mythic SL Sylv/Jailer still requires about 15-20 players to clear. So if it were me, I’d just wait until I can do it in at most a 5 man group, preferably less.

I guess they prefer the incredibly slim chance of it dropping as opposed to not being able to do it at all.

Which is an incredible mistake because the raid leader can easily just ninja the drop, i think.
I remember ninja looting a warglaive of azzinoth back in the day.

See but these people doing skip runs are wasting their weekly lockouts it seems to me. All those juicy mogs they’ll get locked out out of for the week!

That’s fair! Maybe they are an altoholic and have like 40 level 70 characters, so they wouldn’t be able to use all 40 lockouts on an old raid (which requires group forming each time) per week even if they wanted to.

You can’t ninja SL raid mount drops. They’re all PL.

Basically you need the group to be lucky enough for the mount to drop in the first place. Then on top of that the game does an internal roll as to who it goes to. If it ends up being you, then you will see the loot toast straight away and the mount popping into your bags.

iirc the mythic only mounts become part of the true personal loot table once they are reduced down to 1%.

So wait. Does that mean it’s 1% for each individual?

I believe so yes.

Ooooooooo. TIL. Nice!

you generally cant solo raid content for 2 expansions, Shadowlands was only the last xpack so yes, you will still need groups to complete the content.

People do mount skip runs because they are only there to farm for the mount, and they are likely doing 10+ runs a week using the skip. Not everyone wants to reclear the whole raid for no real reason unless your tmog farming.

Maybe the real mount was the friends we made along the way.

Unless its Jaina.

Then FML. Cause powerhouse frostmage.

We may have to wait til were 80 again to drop her solo.

The is no way to solo Jaina regardless of your level. It’s mechanically impossible to do on mythic at least. Same with Ghun etc.

Idk, I can 1 shot the Lich King.

Sure, we gotta go through all the song and dance but he drops as soon as that is over. Even his “kill everyone” spell doesnt even hit for 2hp anymore.

Some bosses the mechanics are annoying. I haven’t ever really researched it to know if Blizz made changes or if the mechanics just kind of break with 1 person in there but a lot of fight that should be impossible arent when youve got 30-40 levels on the mobs.

Maybe you are right. But how would she act with 1hp after the first hit? Would it jump to the last phase or would we still have to run through the fog etc? Guess we’ll have to wait and see.

I guess. Although the number of years you’d have to wait for that to be the case would I suppose be a cominsurate amount. When was ICC current content? At current ilvl progression, I doubt you’d be able to 1 hit her within the next couple expansions before triggering her ocean ice phase.

But there are others. Conclave in BoD is also an issue. Same with Mythrax, Ghun etc. Ghun doesn’t even pop out unless you do same time orbs on mythic. Not sure what ilvl you’d need to be to get through his 99% DR/immunity without dealing with running orbs.

Ultimately the issue is that the mechanics in ICC era raids and similar (basically anything pre-WoD) just weren’t as complex or as punishing as the raids that came afterwards. Hence why blizz had to run mechanic alterations on WoD and Legion raids when they became legacy content.
